Hi everyone! I just discovered this community last week and have spent all my time since reading through all the forums. :) I actually just learned about mermaiding as something that people can actually do 2 weeks ago when a lady came into my alterations shop wanting to be measured for her new tail. At first I wasn't sure what she meant, I thought perhaps she was talking about a mermaid dress, but once she started talking about silicone and water it dawned on me that she really was having a full silicone mermaid tail made for her to swim in! I was so excited and interested and must have asked her a million questions while she was there. As soon as I got home that night I looked up her tail maker (Mertailor) and was absolutely blown away! I never new that a mermaid tail even existed as something someone could purchase, and definitely not something as drop dead gorgeous as the silicone tails. I researched more, found more tail makers, and people who perform as mermaids, and conventions and finally this forum. That was 2 weeks ago, and here I am in the process of purchasing materials to make myself a custom monofin and a spandex tail. I was actually going to just jump right in a start on a silicone tail, but thought perhaps I ought to at least give swimming in a tail a go first before making that kind of investment. ;) So anyway, HI!

Welcome . If you are going to make a spandex tail there is a ton of information on here to get you through. An if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. We like to help each other out.

@MerAnthony - YES! I've been doing quite a lot of research. I've learned more in this past week about tail making and monofin types. I can hardly wait to get started. :)

hi there and a warm welcome to you!
I think that Germany's magic tails are great for a starter tail.....not too expensive, either!
Much love to you!
