Phoenix Comicon!!big news

I found out awhile ago that Phoenix comicon, the signature pop culture event of the southwest, wants me to do my mermaid 101 panel for them as well as other things.This is my second year working as a mermaid for this event.They are paying for everything.Conventions don't usually pay unless your important to them so i feel awesome.I guess at the meeting for this convention, they mentioned it?.not sure

The panel for phoenix gets to be more broad and include more since its targeted at a more general audience so that will be super fun for me.
for the Other things, i still need to confirm what we are doing and what setup they would like and logistics,but the reason why im posting before i got everything confirmed is to ask if i still have time if you mers attending would also want a mermaid pool party?I have a connection with one of the hotels and there may still be time to do one specifically for mers since i guess this year they are planning a "one piece" pool party.I may not be able to attend the pool party myself as i will be working(might not even have time to make food for my friends.cons are busy and no one ever eats).maybe they wont need me for more than an a day.So who is going? who wants a meet-up? :eyebrows:

I forgot to mention. a lot of celebrities are also doing panels. so many awesome nerd celebs! :jawdrop: another reason to go if you like the walking dead or firefly or comics<3,babylon 5 20th anniversary is here,nerd prom, the r2d2 robots are always there. star wars section in the vendor hall is super neat.This place rocks.

Awesome.If anyone else knows of any mermaid going to Phoenix comicon,let them know about this.I originally was suggesting a mermaid pirate pool party for the convention,but i guess one-piece is more popular? pft! lame! we are much cooler than that. lol because of their crazy idea, im thinking we crash the pool party.Mermaids are awesome.They will love it! I tried to call and fix something special up just for us, but nothing worked.I'm now too busy with gigs and making two tails for some girls to really pursue it. Saturday 3-5pm Renaissance hotel.I'm going to try to be there too

As for my appearance at con, Mermaid 101 is on the website now,but its under a different name for many reasons.mostly because it helps my friends and i help my friends cuz they help me.AND of course,They wrote it wrong. Every con that has had me has had some sort of typo.Last time, they changed the time, this time its all jumbled up,and im apparently im in anime when its clearly scifi! lol Saturday 12-1pm West 106C


I was supposed to get an email for specifics on another mermaid event for the convention.The manager was very excited about it, but i guess she is really busy right now.I have to email her or i just cant do it for this year and will merely do it next year only.I need to know now to get everything prepared in time.If they do get back to me in time,I will ask them to add me in the guests section.Truth is, if they ask me to do it for a certain amount of time,I may need back up ;).11100This will be the 3rd or 4th time i have presented this panel =)

The pool party is at the Renaissance hotel Saturday at 3-5pm. I recall that pool being on the 5th floor.my panel and the party will be in the programming schedule you get when you get your badge usually.Make sure you don't loose it because they go fast.The pool party is called "One Piece pool party" My panel is "Mermaid 101"by Mermaid Odette ,but its written wrong as "Mermaids 101".That's Saturday in the convention center at 1pm room west 106C

I'm not sure whether or not I could make it, sadly. My birthday is on the 20th, and I'm not sure how the schedule would be for work. Fingers crossed. I know for sure my tail wouldn't be completed before them, boo hoo. :(

Thanks! I'm sad I'm going to miss everyone this weekend, but I will have more time to work on finishing my tail (all that's left is the neoprene, neoprene glue and painting stuff, and the zip ties for my dorsal and pectoral fins), so excited!

i've got some video my boyfriend took.and i asked for some pics and video from my hotel room of the pool party.I'll get it finished soon.
for those who didn't come, The panel was a blast!I had a great turn out.I can't believe i just about filled the room.
I got to the panel room,tail covered in a bed sheet with masking tape, and everyone was already inside, so i asked the moderator to help me find a place to change.I knew there would be kids and he told me there were some upfront so we went through the room next to it which was the art room. backstage i changed.forgot my vaseline so i used my friends coconut lotion to get my tail on.they set up my computer for me.then my mermaid handler picked me up and took me out into the room.I heard everyone kinda gasp and i couldn't help but smile as i was placed on the table.i saw hello to the audience,my computer had problems,and i finally started the panel.One thing i do that i don't think i got on camera was my water bit.i drink some water then pour it onto my tail.They love it.I introduced myself and what i do as well as how much i do.We had some laughs, the kids asked random questions through the panel.I loved the shark question!I did my best to present a lot of information, but still leave room for kids to believe im real.That's the most important thing to me.This is the only time they have to freely imagine and believe in the unthinkable before someone or something takes that away.Did fairly good, but when grandmas come up and ask, i try to say something like "i'm real, but i think some may use silicone or neoprene to look like me" and after the panel everyone wants a picture, or at least most of the kids and parents. i let some of them pour water on my tail. super fun.

after i changed back into a human, i went to my hotel, dropped off the tail,got food,and showed up late for the pool party. like before,I had to find a place to change away from the kids so i changed in the corner off of the elevator.My wonderful boyfriend brought me out to the pool.I made quite an entrance. the pool party manager ended up entering me into a costume or swimwear contest..Thanks!met up with some wonderful mermaids!!!loved meeting everyone.the pool was packed! almost like a fish barrel.hardly room to swim.we were all trying to zig zag thru the people and i decided to shark.Great DJ's playing some of my favorite songs.I loved everyone's outfits.fun costumes and bikinis.I met a princess bubblegum bikini girl. she was so sweet.It was also hard to hear so not the best place for a meetup but still had fun meeting everyone.Loved it!Oh, and i won the contest.didn't know how to feel since its my job to look like a legit mermaid and i don't like to enter contests since its a business,but i am thankful for the compliment and the free bikinis.11449

I got so much planned for next PCC. Being a mermaid for potentially 3 different areas of the convention and next year ill be a mermaid all 4 days. we shall see what happens.In the mean time, i should be making an appearance in New Mexico.planning that out now.so anyone in Albuquerque wants to see me,thats gonna happen.

I really hope they do something again at con, at least another pool party! It was so fun. Con isn't until June though, and it's been pretty warm this winter. I was thinking of taking upon myself to plan a few meetups for us during the year. Our pod needs to meet more! Especially since we really aren't' too far from each other.
What do you guys think about that?

So my "Mermaid 101" panel was accepted again this year. Yaaay! I hope to do more with it this year and target it to the kids since it was accepted under kids programming. (last year it was under anime?) Don't yet know what day or time. I hope to see you guys there. Last year, I got so excited to see mers in the audience. Its like a jolt of "omg! I know you!" lol.

I'm going to check out if they moved the pool party this year to a better pool, but looking at how crowded it was last year, we should probably meet at a different time or even pool. I was going to see if we could perform for the pool party, but I think i'll save it for next year if ever. I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable because they are expected to do something. Needs to be pure bliss for everymer new and old.:dance:

I love doing this show especially when I get others into it. Everyone who comes up after its over has such a look of wonder and amusement in their faces and I love it! I hope to bring some of those interested to swim with us. I think ill bring an extra tail for them to try on.

I was invited to be a mermaid in Moon's mermaid lagoon, but it's a non-paying gig, and no pay to help with travel expenses- so I couldn't afford to jump a plane to Phoenix :/ Super sad I have to miss out, but I just didn't have the funds. Would have loved to meet you Odette!
