View Full Version : Places to purchase a monofin? Without ordering?

Does anyone know where I can buy a monofin? I've checked my local Dick's Sporting Goods, but all they have is standard swim fins.
There is also a scuba shop I have yet to check, but their prices are really high. I really don't want to order a fin from the internet, but I might be forced too.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance! xx

I'm afraid you aren't likely to find any in stores, although possible. I live in Florida and none of the dive shops even had any basic monofins! Sporting goods and dive shops are the best places to look though.

I have a used Finis rapid that's cut into the fluke shape I have been thinking of parting with......

Bleh! Nowhere that's where >:T
I'm in the same boat as Emma. I live in florida and we have a Divers Direct and even THEY don't have monofins. They have an entire wall of dive fins, too so I'd think if anyone stocked em it'd be them.

I've actually been working with a local dive shop over the last couple months, to see about them stocking monofins (finis). So far they are working on it :) Hopefully they will have some in stock before too long

Yeah, I went ahead and checked the scuba shop and they didn't have any either. :i Oh well. I think I'm just going to order myself a Finis Wave. :p

I don't know why monofins are so hard to find in stores. :/ They're just like swim fins! Except, ya' know, just one big fin. Haha.

Yea I dunno why not either.
Honestly I like monofins more in the realm of exercise/sport purposes because they really work your lower body a lot unlike separated fins where you can just use your legs.

Thank goodness! More places need to start stalking Finis (:

I think they're just a lot less mainstream so dive shops don't stock them. Heck, my local one didn't even know what I was talking about. lol.

You're probably right. Plus, most dive shops I know focus on scuba diving - and scuba diving in a monofin would be a NIGHTMARE. It can be difficult enough trying to get around in a pair of normal fins when you've got a forty pound tank on your back. :p

Update: Just ordered myself a Finis Rapid. :) I got it $60, too! ;D
