I believe this is general discussion... xD My apologies if I posted this in the wrong place :/ Be glad to move it or whatever if so ^_^
But anyhoo, I just wanted to say that being a teenage girl, it's really hard to be a mermaid!! This day and age, there is way too much pressure on people to be the same as everyone else. So it takes a LOT of courage to openly be mer!! I've just begun to slowly pop my head out of the water, but it's intimidating, that's for sure xD
So for you mermaids, YOU HAVE SO MUCH COURAGE! And for you mermen? I SALUTE YOU. xD It takes even more confidence for a man to put on a tail and be open about what you do. So be proud of yourselves!! >w<
I kinda just really wanted to put that out there, so if you want add any comments with your thoughts, and maybe some tips for those who aren't so open about it? xD
Idk. Anyway, have a beautiful day!!<3

I myself am a teenager and fortunately I have not had a problem with "coming out" as a mermaid. I've been through enough to realize that you shouldn't care what others think about you, society is judgmental but why should you care what they think about you? So long as you are happy and not causing harm to yourself or anyone else. So, break out of your shell! Good luck :D

i personally waited until after highschool to weed out "friends" from true friends. same with my other friends. one came out as a satanist, another a wiccan, a few lesbians... but i commend you for your bravery!

It may be late in my life that I came out as a merman, but my friends take me for who I am, not what I do. I give my friends respect an in return I get respect. That is the way it should be. An if people can't take you for you then they were not ment to be. Be yourself is all I can say. An if people can't respect you for what you do then is was not to be. There will always be haters no matter what anybody does. There are alot of closed minds out there an can not accept something that is different. Brush it off an keep swimming forward an be yourself is all I can say.

There may be pressure to fit in, but it's a true life lesson that you will never be happy unless you live life as your true self and follow your passions :)

I remember wearing my tail in the public high school pool when I was in middle school. Some of the older teenagers laughed, but all of the little kids loved it. Happy little kids outweigh teenagers who have nothing better to do. If it makes you happy, I say do it. :)

I think its just because most people nowdays have a "function" of ordinary. if something comes up and its not in there life style than its considered weird as your not doing what all others are doing. eg to be a christian is very, very normal today but if you go against someone beliefs then those people look at you as if your not in the real world or are EXTREAMLY judgemental. Ive had it plenty of times and i just don't care about what people think. just say to yourself, I am who I am and thats all I am.
