shark style tail

im making a tail I want to be like a great white shark. I'm trying to brain storm how to make a monofin functional turned the opposite direction. has anyone attempted this before or have any thoughts or suggestions?

Unfortunately, I don't think it's anatomically possible to make it function that way D: Our bodies just can't move like that.

Maybe you keep the monofin the normal mermaid way, but design the fluke to look like a sideways shark take? You could also add a dorsal, pectoral fins and maybe even add some gills on the side. :D

I was thinking maybe and extension rod with "pedals" hooked to each side. like a unicycle alternating feet pushing moving the tail left and right.

I'm not knowledgeable enough with mechanics to know if that would work or not, but the idea sounds promising. Maybe try it out and let us know how it goes? I would just think that the peddling mechanism would be rather heavy and weigh the tail down significantly; I'm not sure how easy it would be to swim with. Were you thinking of swimming with it?

I made a black-tipped reef shark tail for Shark Week two years ago. Kept the fluke like a mermaid fluke though. Used hard interfacing for fins. Could have done better, but it was one of the first tails I ever made!

Thanks that confirms to Mr it is possible and my ideas should work and the video on there showed me both the problems and how to solve the issues I saw in my design. The reason I'm doing it is cause I'm planning on opening up my own Mermaid tall company. I've found an amazing silicone not used by anyone else, I have my models and all set up and in a month or so we are doing the photo shoot then I will launch my line. I've figured out all the tiny details and oncei do the shoot I am going to have between 5-8 tail options and kW if my guy designs is a shark. I'll keep e you all posted as of progress. Thanks to everyone for the info!

Well why not move your tail the same way naturally but instead of a flat tail, you justapt the tail sideways? I mean just as long as it looks like a shark tail, you don't have to move the same way as a shark ;0 fish fins are technically like a sharks too
