I've been considering purchasing another tail. I've already got one from Aquatails (which I love), but I'm also wanting a more realistic one. At first I wanted to order from Merbellas, but I don't really want to spend $1,000 + shipping on a tail right now - money is a bit tight. So, does anyone have any recommendations on where I could get a tail in the $400 - 600 range? It doesn't have to big anything fancy, I'll be happy with something fairly basic for now.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :)

(*Note: I've had many issues with the Mertailor before, and ended up never getting my tail. So I won't be going back to Eric.)

You could try Mayberry or Emily Angelfish. I wouldn't recommend Fish Butts at the moment until she gets a chance to catch up and get back on her feet.

If you are tiny and want an affordable silicone tail, check out Mermaid Creations! He does basic guppy tails for $480 if you are 30in or under from your belly button to ankle.

I am wondering your review of the aquatails you currently own-- I own a silicone tail from mermaids r us (more about that in a minute)--and I am purchasing a fabric tail next week because I need something light enough to pack on a vacation to turks and caicos in november. (the 30 lb tail won't make it!) I am also interested to see the difference between a silicone vs fabric. I think Jerilyn's fabric tails look very lovely in the water!
I like my mermaids r us tail---it is the basic full silicone tail and it cost me $575 plus shipping. Sandy is great with customer service and I overall recommend the product. My only qualm was that I asked for gold paint accents, was charged $50 extra, and she ended up using gold glitter which got EVERYWHERE. i need to write my formal review of the product on this site soon, so look for it in a few days.
here's a few pics of it:

Thanks! I'll be sure and check out both of those. :)
Unfortunately, I'm more on the curvy (coughfatcough) side - not to mention I'm 5'8. I wouldn't fit in a guppy tail. :p

I love my Aquatail!; totally recommend. It feels very lightweight in the water, almost like a swimsuit. I do a lot of scuba diving, though, so the feel of neoprene has almost become second nature to me... It might feel a bit strange to you. Haha. Still, it's very comfortable and, in my opinion, a good choice in tail if you're traveling (did that make sense? haha). I'll be sure and check out Mermaids R Us! Those pictures of you look BEAUTIFUL. The price isn't too bad, either. Thank you so much!
