I contacted Honey Creek Resort State Park in Iowa and asked them if they'd like a special even with a mermaid appearing. They responded by asking me how much that I charge, and I was wondering what was fair.
I haven't built up any rapport and I have no following, fanbase, or client reviews since, though I have been hired for a gig later in the summer, I haven't actually worked yet.
For the Pirate Festival I am being paid $14.20/hr, but festivals have a much smaller budget than I'm assuming a resort has.

I was wondering that too. As far as birthday parties my rate is about $60 for first hour and $40 every hour after. But when I calculated that out as far as how many hours i would be working for the festivals and events with the bretheran court....it was WWAAAYYY too much. So I would like a good idea of this answer as well. I know that there are "calculators" out there to judge how much you should charge per hour...but they always tell me like lower than min wage...

I ended up telling her $50/hr but then for events over 10hrs $17/hr. (Daddy's a purchasing guy so this was his advice)
We'll see what she says!

I charge $50/hour for up to 2 hours, and then $80 for every hour after that.

Do it, Duluth is one of the best places to vacation in the summer. It's a tourist hotspot

I am more curious as to a weekend event...not just a birthday party that will only last a couple of hours. We are talking like friday is 3hrs and sat and sun are each 8 hours. Its kinda hard to tell them that i want $50/hr.

Haha, I would except my summer is booked up. How hot does it get up there anyway? It must be different from our 105F+ days. xD
