Hey, my name's Lex.

I am an avid costumer, I live for Halloween every year, and plan and make more elaborate costumes every year. The past few years I've been wanting to do a mermaid costume. I started digging around on the internet, and stumbled across Mermaiding. Mind = blown. The last week I've been avidly watching and reading everything I can about it. Like I'm sure most people here are, I was obsessed with the movie Splash as a child. I've always had a fascination with mermaids.

So for a little bit, I'm going to probably use this as a resource for techniques to help make my costume, (You're all so creative!) but this has gotten my curiosity going, I'm considering buying a monofin, and since I have a pool, giving it a go! I don't know if I'll work up the guts to make myself a swimmable tail, but we'll see! It's almost too big a challenge to not take up.

See you around the forums!

I love hearing about how people stumble across the site :)

We'd love to see photos of whatever you come up with for your costume!

I most definately will, though, it'll be months until I'm through. I work on my costumes a little bit throughout the year, and get a head start. (obviously)

But if it's alright, I'll post last year's and the year before. I want to get more complex this year and I think a mermaid is just the challenge.

Welcome Lex, Are you by any chance related to Lex Luthor? lol I hope you like it here. By the way, I looked at your profile and it states that you are male. So wouldn't you be a merman, instead of a mermaid?

I'm a girl. :) I don't remember in the registration process being asked to select a gender, how funny! And no relation to mr. Luthor or mr. Luger.:)

And I'll definitely post up pictures of my costumes progress along the way. Since it's not a swimmable one, I'm guessing the cosplay forum is most appropriate?
