Tail Making Help?

Hi fellow merfolk! Anyways, so I think I'm going to make my first mermaid tail soon and I was wondering what sort of material I should use! Since it's my first I'm going to make a fabric tail and I'm using swimsuit/spandex material. Do you just paint the material with waterproof paint? Also, any suggestions on what my monofin I should get? Thanks guys!:D

4 way stretch lycra, luminer paint, and some type of a finis monofin. It depends on the kind of fluke you want for he mono fin. Be sure to read the links Moonflower posted they have lots of good info and go in depth about how to make one.
