View Full Version : I'm so happy with the top I just made!!

I stayed up way too late last night finishing this. I'm glad I finally got around to doing it. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, though I might still add a little more seaweed hanging down from the front. What do you all think?

Closer up to see details (sorry for blurry cell phone pic, bleah)

And on me (sorry for stoopid non-photogenic face)

I can't smile worth beans so I always have to have a surly look in pictures to avoid looking like a complete moron.

I think it's beautiful just the way it is

I love it, and I know how you feel with the smiling thing! I'm the same way. Unless I'm not aware you're taking a pic or I'm not smiling on purpose, I always look doofy. If you look closely at my avatar, I've got a really weird grin going there.

Thanks so much guys!!

And yeah, Mermaid Pickles, doofy is the perfect word to describe how I look when I try to smile in pictures :$

Oh Theobromine, I love it! Especially the sequins in the shell grooves! You did an awesome job! I like the greens just the way they are! Congrats! I hope it doesn't tickle too much! LOL!

Very nice :)

Thanks! Haha, it does tickle a little actually, I guess I'll have to get used to that. And I guess my doofy blurry cellphone camera doesn't quite show it, but they're actually little glass beads, not sequins. I picked them out because they look like beach glass, and I couldn't resist because I love beach glass. Especially blue beach glass, which is the hardest color to find!

Ooooh even better! I love beach glass too, and your right, blue is the hardest to find, especially tiny pieces you used! And Blue is my fav color! Awesome!

Whaah I love it! Would totally match my new tail :p hehe.

Maybe I should get my lazy ass off to work on a shell bra? But what I never understood : How do you keep the shells and seeweed on the bra? (So it doesen't come off under water)

05-10-2013, 08:39 AM
Glad you like it :D Like many others here, I used E6000 glue for the seashells. It holds really well. First I sewed the fishnet down to the nude colored strapless bra I bought, then I glues the seashells down very firmly on top. I glued the seaglass beads to the fronts of the shells, and I used a combination of brown thread stitches and glue (depending on whether it would be visible or not) to attach the seaweed.

The sewing took me a lot of time and swearing, though :p

Thanks for the info. I don't think i caan find that kind of glue here but I have some other strong glue and hoping that will do the trick! ^^

As long as it is strong and a little flexible and holds up in the water it should be fine.

That looks so coral!! I love the rhinestones...

I really like the sea glass effect. Pretty top, none of the plant bits are poking at you when it's on, either, eh? Nice job!

Ha, I love the smiling comments earlier... I wish I looked as good as doofy when I smile in pics. ha.

Haha thanks :) Yeah, it's pretty comfy, not too pokey.
