My daughter wants to enter a fancy dress costume as a squid. She needs to be able to wave tentacles about! Does anyone have any idea how I could make this? What materials would be involved?

The bottom one kind of already looks like a dress.

How about something like this: http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/t5/Mystery/Please-Welcome-Author-BRAD-PARKS/td-p/1307377/page/4

You could always opt for a squid hat (http://www.etsy.com/shop/ObeyMyBrain)

Dottie--That's one of my favorite animals you just showed!! Vampyroteuthis infernalis, which evolutionarily is actually between an octopus and a squid.

I made a giant squid plush similar to Merman Ĉolius' hat if you need a pattern for something similar (the one I used was free online).

Hmm. Maybe if you made a skirt with the arms. You could have the two (longer) tentacles attached to the hands in some way (either directly or by fishing line?) to make them seem more movable. Fins could go on the side or back of the body??

This is hard! They're shaped so differently than people x_x

Makes sense, it looks like something halfway.
I'm actually thinking that I mighty make a dress like that.
