What do you think of a book about man-eating sirens? I've stopped writing my other book because I thought it was a little too... light. So I'm going darker and I've started writing a book about man-eating sirens, and I want to know, would you buy it? I have yet to come up with a solid story line, but I have some ideas.
The mane character is going to be 15 and she and her Pod are starving until they come across a boat of sailors, but something goes wrong and she ends up getting cut off from the rest of her Pod and she's stuck with this one guy who she decides not to eat because she thinks that he could be of some help.
She's going to be a strong character who thinks for herself and doesn't need a man to complete her. I have yet to come up with a name for her, but it's going to be unusual.

So what do you think? Would you buy it?

It kinda sounds like potc... Man eating sirens but she doesn't eat one... I'd read it but I prefer them to be an antagonist instead of the protagonist.

I mean, she's going to hurt him, but I think he's going to do something to make her stop (like hit her over the head with something and nock her out so then she'll keep her distance).

Oh, and what do you guys think is a nice tail color for the main character that isn't popular? No golds, no greens, no blues because those are popular mer (siren) colors.

Oh, and when I mean cut off from the rest of the Pod, I mean something like stuck in a cave or something. Not caught.

I don't know if I will buy it, it seems interesting but I don't really like dark stories. Life is so dark these times that I would rather read a lighter story. For the tail, I see one white with dark iridescences.

I like stories that have a bit of both dark and light. Even Game of Thrones, one of the most unforgiving stories I've ever seen, has a substantial amount of witty comic relief :)

there's a manga series with this. "Mermaid Forest" and "Mermaid Scar". They eat men, but in fairness, if men eat them they either turn into a monster or gain immortality. They also eat each other to either turn into a monster, or gain youth.

I think it sounds interesting, but tell us more about the plot when you start getting ideas. :)
