Ok, I've combed through the threads in this forum and haven't really found the right thing. My fiance is a photographer and knows WAY more about cameras than I ever will but he thought it'd be a good idea to ask and see what people would recommend. We have used GoPro on scuba trips but didn't like the quality of the photos plus you have to find a housing, memory cards etc etc etc. I know there is a Panasonic Lumix which has been rated very well but we are look for a step above that somewhere in the 800-1000 price range that includes the flash arm and can reach depths of 60-100 f.. I do love Derek Broussard's work and his camera is amazing but that is a little too big to start off with haha so if any one knows of a more professional camera please do share =]

Hello!
I personally have used the watershot housing. It's a case for your iphone that comes with a lens over it to. The quality is awesome and it comes with its own app that does a lot of features.
It's a great price with great quality and its awesome to start off with. :D
I hope you find what you're looking for!

I have a friend that's an amateur underwater photographer; I can ask her if she has any suggestions. I honestly think your best bet is probably just to get/use a good DSLR and get an underwater housing for it.

We went ahead and purchased the SeaLife DC1400 with attachable flash arm :) if I decide to do videos we'll go back for thebother attachment. It was ballpark of 825 for the camera and housing. From what I can tell it takes awesome pictures

Im hoping to take it to Rawlings next week when we test our new scuba stuff :) I'll post some pictures then.

Before you make the plunge, read some reviews and take suggestions from the forum. Don't aim too low when choosing a camera. I've never heard anyone complaining that the camera they bought is too good.
Don't rule out used and refurbished cameras from dealers and manufacturers.
