Lately I have been seeing that some men are wearing one piece swimsuits that closely look like the Speedo Hydra swimsuit for women for swimming. With the high neck an a zipper up the back. I myself don't know how comfortable thay are or if they are at all. To me if a man wants to wear something like this it is up to them. More power to them. But on the other hand it may have it's advantages if a man does.

Don't some Olympic swimmers wear one-pieces? I know I've seen them before and it doesn't look at all odd to me. I would think it would help tremendously in keeping you hydrodynamic!

Even for an everyday suit? An not just for Olympic swimmers.

I think you should just wear whatever you feel comfortable with, personally. I don't know how comfortable a one-piece is for a guy. :( I think the ones the Olympians wear have little leg portions, like shorts. I'll see if I can find a picture. I may be thinking of something else entirely.

Hi MerAnthony,

I brought up this discussion with Hubby. He feels that, like Olympian athletes wear, a leg on the skin-suit, or triathlete "short" one piece suit, is necessary for two reasons: one is chafe, and two, riding up. He thinks the suit designers for these competitive athletes got it right and figured out what was more comfortable. You might find, if you wore a cut-back speedo-type skin-suit, like I did... well, I found out the hard way... It was my first high cut leg on my one piece suit. The back leg elastic of the suit migrated... exposing more butt cheek and became more thong like... very uncomfortable. Had I worn a regular suit, that wouldn't have happened. At least I had on my full wetsuit at the time so no one else saw what happened. Just my and hubby's opinion, for wearing a full skin-suit (tank top style, short leg) under a tail, we both agreed that hubby would want a very short leg because of it riding up, as the waist of the tail shifts.

Hope this helps!

That looks like a racing suit or water polo suit. Competitive water sports swimmers wear them, I've worn full suits for races before. They hurt, they're super tight to make you faster. I would not wear it or a similar one for comfort.

I wear that for water polo and when I SCUBA dive :) They're pretty comfy actually.

But freshwater Mermaid, my question was how would you feel if a man was to wear one like this?
