Didn't know if anyone had seen this before, but it kind of reminds me of a cross between a flying squirrel and a manta ray.

I've seen a video of someone swimming in one of these. It's crazy!

I'd love to see him swimming in that too, I wonder tho if its a nylon spandex, not a neoprene, looks too smooth and stretchy to be neoprene.

@ Comatose_Angel... If you can find a link please post it!
Thanks

It's called the Oceanwings suit and it's made by US Divers. It actually is neoprene, just with a shiny surface coated on. I think they just made it for testing, and they haven't made it available for purchase by the public yet.

Might be some cool ideas there for mers?

He just sort of, glides....
My first thought was making a long, narrow tail... and dressing up as a Ray Mer person...

WOW, WOW! Absolutely cool! I've seen skydivers use similiar "wings" to glide great distances! This was sooo neat! Love it!

Thanks AptaMer!

And here I thought he'd use those wings to jump out of the water, and then glide a bit through the air like a flying fish :p

Making a Ray costume would also be neat.
I wonder where he gets his propulsion from though.
If you look closely, they just show him when in motion, gradually slowing, then there's a cut, and another scene where he's gliding fast again:confused:
At any rate, trying to swim with anything but a dolphinkick in this should be difficult xD

My guess is that the currents lift him, and he propels himself by angling his body, the same way eagles use updrafts to glide effortlessly in the sky.

I can see it now

"Can't manage the girly dolphinkick?
No problem!
In this suit, not only will you be cooler than all those giggling mermaids;
you will also look like BATMAN!!"

yes, Batman. In a dress.
