Hi! I am considering making a part silicon tail by making a neoprene one, coating it with silicon, and pressing a scale pattern into it. Do you think that would work? I've never worked with silicon before, but I have made fabric mermaid tails. I would really love to hear your suggestions!!

I can't tell which of you you are, it's so hard to keep up! lol. That's how FishButts does their tails, as well as many others. That's how it works. :)

Pressing a pattern into silicon will be tricky.

Pretty sure it has to be done with caulking, doesn't it?

Not hard at all.practice on a foot of fabric, get your method for pressing down, and you will be fine.I'm working on a scale sheet of metal that will make nice round ones.

What is your trick Odette?
I played around with dragon skin a lot and I couldn't get it to holds a pattern by pressing...
In the end I decided making a scale sheet was a much better option..
If you can get it to work it would be a great way to save time! Making those sheets is the most consuming part!
