Hey Mermaids! I need your help figuring out some thing.

So, I just got hired to do a birthday party as Ariel!

YAY!!

Problem is all my tais are blue and I don't know what is up with a wig that I can swim in.

I can make a tail (great excuse anyways right!?!?!) But seriously how am I supposed to swim in a wig?

Any ideas or suggestions would be wonderful!!!

Pin your wig on really really well, use a mesh wig cap so you can pin straight through into your hair. It should stay on through swimming.

Ok! Thanks Poneytales! Have you done this and it worked?

My wig maker is Allison at coco-coquette (http://coco-coquette.com/). She is Amazing!

I own a children's entertainment company and she makes all my princess wigs at a very affordable price.

Cornrow your hair into 3-4 braids (depending on the thickness of your hair). It will create a great, solid base for the wig and for all the bobby pins you will be using. As for wig styling for underwater, you can try non-water-soluable spray glue. Just make sure it's non-toxic, whatever glue you end up using.

Update:
I talked to the client and it turns out their daughter loves mermaids in general and not specifically the little mermaid. They just assumed that Ariel would be the only option because we do all the other princesses. So I'm just going to be my regular mermaid self! "phew"
Still thanks for all the great ideas!

I haven't worn one underwater, but this is how cosplayers keep especially heavy, long, or unbalanced wigs on their heads, and I have worn a 4 foot long wig held on in this method without it moving an inch, even through wind and movement. Using a mesh stye wig cap instead of a stocking style one makes it easier to pin through, and if you pin it to your real hair it sort of 'roots' it to your head. I know you said you don't need the wig now, but in case you ever do (another request for Ariel party perhaps)
