Okay, so this isn't technically mer-related.
My mom hasn't goofed off at a pool for YEARS, apparently, and always just swims laps. She recently bought a new bathing suit, and says that if I drag her to the pool (tail or no tail with me), I have to teach her how to have fun. ANy suggestions, guys? I'm having a hard time figuring it out.
Oh, and she started swim team when she was in elementary school, so it's been A REALLY LONG TIME.
Anyway, yeah. THANKS!

Ha ha, but seriously, getting her a tail would be so cool, even just a less expensive spandex one. Or maybe just start out with a monofin and start having fun swimming fast and doing tricks with her, to get her used to the idea? :mermaid kiss:

Love the other answers so far LOL
Find some pool games the two of you can play, I'd say. That's a good way to get it started.

Okay, first of all, I have to APPROVE of the trekkies here. :D I love Star Trek! I grew up watching TNG, then got around to watching the others! BORG MERMAID WIN. And she actually expressed interest in my tails a while back, but if I got her a fabric tail, I'd likely make it myself, because I'd have to get her a rapid, and make it to her measurements. But thanks for the ideas. And pool games....hmmm.....I'll have to come up with some.

To be honest, I'm not sure what you mean by "goof".
Swimming figures, making bubbles, that sort of stuff?
I really have no idea.
I swim laps in my tails as well :D
Spice them up with underwater turns, deeper dives and such.
It would be great to have another mer along and do some choreographed moves though (water ballet like).

Have fun, I think is what she means! It sounds like her mom has treated the pool very seriously.

It's been a while since I was at the pool with my family, but I always liked racing for those dive sticks--you'd throw them, and they'd sink and you could retrieve them. We had a few different colors, and we'd either throw them into different parts of the pool or have another family member hide them in the water, then race to collect our "set" of sticks before the other person. We also used to have balls we'd just throw around, they were made of foam and would fill with water so they'd splash you when you caught them, and would float about a foot underwater if you just left them.
I also spent most of my time pretending to be a dolphin or other sea creature, though :)
