what do you think about this tail design? I'm planning to sew a tail inspired to this :3

lovely drawing! <3 I'm not a fan if this kind of fluke personally, but it's your tail so you should choose! :)

I love the colors of the first one and the unique look, but how in the world would you make a functional tail like that? The closest thing I can think of would be tails like these: http://bstumpf.zenfolio.com/themermaidproject/h57F4A398#h57f4a33a I love those tails, and was considering making a similar one myself, but then one of the girls (the orange mermaid) said that it was like swimming in a tent and they were very, very slow. Still, I look forward to seeing what you do with these ideas!

I like the top fluke design because round fan like flukes are so rare! In fact the only one I've seen was a Clown fish tail on youtube. It wasn't nearly as big as the top picture. That probably helped with swimming.

Mermaid Isabel,

I like the first one... reminds me of the beautiful gingko leaf, and the tail of a manatee! You would easily be able to use a rounder edged Finis monofin and extend the edge slightly gathering the fabric to show off the irregular shape on the end. Or gather, gluing together slight "venation" to give the effect of long fluke veins all the way to the end (use plastic straws to create the veins). If you are going to swim in the tail, I would only make one fluke layer the bigger of the two in the picture, two layers of fabric adds too much drag. But for dry demos, make a 2nd smaller layer for the top. I might try a fluke bracelet decorated to disguise the second fluke attachment, to hold it in place and to give the double tail effect! I think it would work out beautifully!

Have fun with the design! I always like different ideas, and this one is lovely! Be creative, go for it!
