BUBBLES! A Cheap Vacuum Degasser?

I've been playing around with a sample size silicone, and it seems that no matter how careful I am, I get bubbles in my work. If I were to make a tail, I would definitely want to invest in a solution for this, but the ones that can be bought are super expensive. Has anyone thought about making their own, sort-of like this guy? Any experience?
