Does anyone know what kind of drill I need for drilling through shells?

Nahla,

You can use a Drummel tool with a high speed bit and go slow as to not crack the shell. I have also found that if you take a piece of masking tape and put over the area were you are drilling that it will cut down on the friction which causes the cracks.

Like Chris said use a Drummel tool but don't use a drill bit. You can get a bit used for etching glass, an it won't destroy the shell.
