This short film is basically a documentary that happens to feature mermaids as a part of it- it's not about mermaids, it's about the very important issues facing us today. We're destroying our oceans, really we are, and people just keep looking the other way. This short film addresses overfishing and various other abuses of the the seas.

Be warned- there are some disturbing images, if you have kids around, you might want to watch first to make sure they're up to it.

It can be seen in its entirety at this website:

I've been following this for years. They contacted me once a long time ago, maybe 4 years ago about this documentary, but we never got to follow up...

I'd like to watch it, but I'm afraid to.

A few things get under my skin in a way that leaves me sad and depressed for days, if not weeks;
seeing people torture and kill fish/marine animals (and other animals, but fishing in particular bothers me),
and industrial waste leaked into water, are among those.

It's the reason why I dumped my studies of marine biology.
I loved the science, but I couldn't deal with to be constantly aware of the stuff that people do to the oceans and the life in it.
It hurts me physically, and emotionally in an indescribable way.

(and my family is afraid to walk with me around a lake, because usually call every dude fishing there a murderer :p
before you ask: I'm a vegan.)

When I realized how overfished the ocean was becoming, I dumped eating fish. If I eat sushi, I eat sweet potato and shellfish.
