Tula's Tail!

So I've finally got my tail almost finished! I still plan on adding a dorsal fin and some sequins. I added cute little pectoral fins after I took this picture.

So here's the details. It has a waist band with elastic in it. The tail itself goes all the way up under my breasts. The fluke is HUGE. I measured it at it's widest. 31 inches wide. 24 inches from foot-pockets to fluke tip. The fringe is ribbon. I'm hoping it holds up!


Don't mind the mess. Yesterday was hectic. 6 hours of sewing, moving stuff around, head exploding. Normal stuff. I can't wait to go swimming!

hehe Yeah. It's a finis wave that I modified with zip ties and gorilla tape and hot glue.

I love it! The color is gorgeous! What color sequins will you add? I would guess gold or green?

Thank you! I have 2 shades of green. Dark and light, as well as silver. The fabric has silver threading through out it, so I was thinking of mixing a bit of silver in with the green sequins <3

Thank you so much! I made my tail first, then started on the dorsal fins. I did the dorsals in several separate parts. I took a piece of paper and drew out the general shape I wanted, then I cut it out and pinned it to two pieces of fabric, inside facing out. I trimmed the fabric to match the shapes, and then sewed them. Once sewn, I flipped them inside out so that the outside was inside. I then measured out how wide my tail was where I was going to put the dorsal fins on (tail flipped inside out so that the inside faced out, laid the sewn fins onto where I wanted and I marked the length with a sharpie. I cut the lines out and then tucked the dorsal fin through the hole and pinned it to the tail. I sewed the fins into the tail that way. The only one I had to hand sew was the one nearest to my heels.

No problem! <3 I love to help! My original plan was to take a long strip and cut it into the spines and sew veins onto them, but I went with the separate spines since I didn't have enough fabric for a solid strip.
