Was working on another example of the art commissions I am offering up to help fund my wedding tail, so I decided to do my own portrait. I also decides to go bare belly and not make myself thinner than I am in person... I was a little nervous to do that but I must say... I really like the not-so-little mermaid I ended up with and I had to share her in a post.

I love it, it is very beautiful and a "not so thin" mermaid is a more natural look because I doubt in nature a merperson would be subject to a human sense of beauty lol.

Sure there are mermaids who are 90-60-90...if they're also 1.6m tall...

Amazing! <3 Much more natural than a slim and trim mermaid. We need the insulation! ^_^
Also, Allie, I was like "Uh, wha?! Oh yeah, centimetres."

I just wanted to say, I've always imagined that mermaids would have a layer of blubber on them, anyways - after all, how could a thin mermaid survive in the cold ocean for very long? Of course, I'm not trying to put down thin mers, either. Skinny or pudgy, we're all mermaids. :)
Biologically speaking though (because there's totally a scientific, biological explanation for mermaids lol) I do think that plumper mermaids would be better off. Also, your picture looks really great! I love the colours. xD

It's a common misconception that, sadly, the entire clothing industry seems to cling to, that with every inch in height, you also surely gain another inch in width :p
seriously, people are not soccer balls.
You CAN wear a size zero or whatever and be 6ft tall.
I am, and it sucks, because if I buy my size, it's much too short because they think "a woman that thin surely must be 4ft tall...",
so I have to buy a plus size for the length which then ends up being far too wide of course.
I could rant on endlessly, but you get the picture.

I was actually referring to that old Sir Mix-A-Lot song, Baby Got Back as a weak joke. "36-24-26? Haha, only if she's 5'3"!"

Never heard of (not surprising, I hardly ever listen to music and if I do, it's usually classic)
But it was a good opportunity to point out this clothing industry madness!
I'll take it to the vent thread :D
