Hello everyone! I heard about this great community quite a while ago but I never really got much of a chance to join until now. I'm still trying to figure out things here, so I apologize ahead of time for any derpiness you all may experience. :$
Ok so umm intro...let's see here... I'll try to keep this mermaid related as I do have an extensive background that's has nothing to do with mermaids. Anyways, my name is Amy but most call me SIN. It's short for SINicallyTwisted and oddly enough I respond quicker to SIN than I do my actually name. Meh. Go figure.
I'm an artist here in the New England area, specifically speaking Massachusetts. I love mermaids, always have since I was a little girl however my favorite mermaid isn't Disney's Ariel but actually HCA's version. Ariel's actually my 2nd favorite.
After years of being side tracked with other projects I decided that I wanted to do something that I've always wanted to do but never had the chance to. I've recently taken my love of mermaids and applied it to my artwork with a bit of a twist. I take characters from various areas of pop culture and turn them into mermaids.
You can see my artwork here on my website....

I also recently started creating my own mermaid costumes to go along with my artwork. The very first mermaid costume that I created was my Steampunk Mermaid costume. I was asked by some friends if I would come attend their show, to which I agreed but once I noticed that the event was Steampunk themed I quickly redesigned my tail to be more appropriate for the event.
I got talked into entering the costume contest part of the show and ended up being the winning costume. Needless to say, I was quite stunned.
If anyone went to the Watch City Steampunk Festival in Waltham, MA, I was there, sitting on the stone steps but the canal.
You can see the process of the costume and the finished costume here...

As for other mermaid 'tails', I also created and what I call a tail skirt.

I'm currently working on a new non-walking tail for GraniteCon in Sept.
Ummm soooo yeah I guess that's it? LOL
Hello and I look forward to meet more groovy cool peeps here!
