Still one of my favorite movies to this day. I remember watching this movie as a little girl and memorizing every single line. My father would be so amazed that I could memorize a movie so quickly. This makes me want to watch Splash, I might just do that tonight! Thank you Raina :)

We just watched the film tonight. I love this 'making of'- I used to have the DVD and it was a bonus, but that DVD was stolen. Bah.

Thanks for posting it. :)

Awesome to know Daryl is a true mer!
She trained to tailswim since she was little and was way better than all stuntwomen, so she did all footage herself.
That's so great!

Sad they cut out the seawitch scene though.
I know I was all stupefied when I watched the film the first time because it's not there at all.

And I would've loved to see more of the underwater world.
In the very last scene, Daryl and Tom dive down to an underwater city which shines mysteriously in the distance.
I wanted to see more of that so badly! :(

Oh, wow! Aw, I love her. Madison was on the list of baby names for my daughter, but she just isn't a Madison. :)

I've long felt the same about the sea hag - I'd love to see all the footage. She is just so awesome. I'd love to see a film about the entire Mer world Madison's from. But I can't imagine anyone doing it well enough. Splash just hit that magic mark.

I think it was smart of them to make it about the romance. I feel the other mer-movies miss the mark because they just focus on the storyline being omg a mermaid instead of anything else. Like, I enjoyed aquamarine, and I think it had a lot of potential- but at the end of the day it was a pre-teen movie that was omg mermaid. lol

Yeah, I like what Ron Howard says about why they cut the sea hag. I just want to see the footage on its own. sadly, what they have on the making of is probably all there is left!

This is absolutely my favourite live-action mermaid movie (and also my favourite type of tail)!

It's in my list, too. My dad wanted to name me Madison before my birth, but my mum didn't >.< anyway i like to make it my second name :D

There's a French/German movie, called "Undine", and the plot of that movie sounds very similar to that "Mermaid"-plot.
The main character falls in love with a mermaid who lives in a lake in the mountains.
The man's brother wants to build a holiday resort at that place, and has to destroy the lake to do so.
If I remember correctly, the brother somehow dies, and the lake stays unharmed.
