Sealing starfish?

As some of u know, I made my first shell top decorated with starfish. I sealed them with a varnish but I'm still a bit worried when i take my top in to the water,the starfish will crumble off.

Does anyone has some experience with sealing starfish, or has some silicone starfish for sale as a backup?

It's that magical glue, right? I'll be mostly swimming in clorine pools so I hope that works out. We don't have that glue around here but can I buy it online ? (Only if it really helps)
