Ocean and Mermaid themed weddings???

OKay so I totally am NOT engaged or anything but like so many girls I dream of my wedding hahha. I always wanted to do an under the sea theme. Have a dress with shells sewn into it, a pretty home made veil, an ocean themed cake and decorations (tastefully done) what kinda things do you think would be cool for something like that? post pics if you can!

I was engaged by the dolphin tank at the NY Aquarium and though i wanted to have my wedding at the aquarium (since it was a big part of me and my husband). My mom wanted me to marry in her church- the same church where she and my father got married. So i did for her, knowing I am going to renew my vows in florida (3yrs from now)

I decided on a Dolphin/Beach themed wedding, the colors were Periwinkle and Silver, my invatations had a lighthouse and the bride and groom walking on the beach and in my bouquet I had little shells. All my bridesmaids and my maid of honor had on blue dresses,same with my mother and mother in law (both different hues of blue). Every little centerpiece i had was with seashells and flowers and candles. On the bridal party table there were dolphins on each side jumping and adorned with flowers. My tiara and veil had pearls and crystals on them also.

Unfortunately my mom paid for my cake and i really didint have a say much on that,
but i wanted this cake and I did have a special bride and groom dolphin topper:

I would LOVE to get married on a beach! With a big and beautiful ocean themed cake and seashells every where, even soft hawaiin flowers. I think that would be beautiful!

That seems a little too specific. I'm no expert but when I think of your idea I'm thinking Space mermaids or "Vulcan kissing" with your fingers. For decorations you want to put people into that atmosphere. Make them feel like they're witnessing a Vulcan wedding on some remote planet.
All depends on decor and lighting and music

I was just thinking you could totally do a thing where you wed "underwater" and then during dinner/reception you "fly off into infinity and beyond"
so you would make the ceremony space underwater themed and the hall star trek/space themed.


...OR you can do complete opposite and you wed "in space" and then you "pull him under the sea to be with you" during the dinner

A Star Trek/mermaid themed wedding!! Amazing. I'm so glad I'm not one of only a few people with dreams of a beach/ocean-themed wedding; I've got a board on Pinterest totally dedicated to wedding inspiration/ideas... I love all the photos that've been shared so far!
