If you live near a Joann Fabrics, they put McCalls and Simplicity (others, too) on sale, to the tune of 5 for $5.00 ! Just watch for sales. I think McCalls was just on sale but check it out. You don't have to pay full price for these patterns.

And now I have the mental image of a mermaid, swimming with a waterproof version of that fish-handbag. :jester:

Vinyl type material, coat the inside of any seams with e600 to seal and get a rubberised zip for sealing the bag and it might just work =P would act as a floatation device though lol

Might be handy to have, but please, no more buoyancy for me lol!
Wanted to try out my new merdance moves today, and always floated up to the surface as soon as I started despite having on a 9lb weight belt :sad eyes:

I'm probably going to have the same floating issues so don't feel bad - I can't dolphin kick for more than like 50 meters because I just float up way too quickly! so frustrating! Going to try to order a weight belt and see how things go

I found one here (http://www.recycledsilk.com/frabjous/Mermaid%27s%20Purse.pdf) that's pretty cute... might need some better hidden closure or something...

cute! =)

I was given an idea the other day - one of the shops here has got these little coin purses that are made of silicone and have little cat ears at the top to help snap the metal hinge open and closed.

I wonder if there would be a way of making a mermaid friendly purse in a similar way. Maybe one with a few little drain/air holes or mesh at the bottom to help air and water escape. Something you could attach to a waist belt to give out little sealed bags of candy or 'mermaid stones' etc at gigs? I've also seen plastic business cards so it could be a neat way to carry those around too? it'd be an easy and cheap way to make a clam-bag which couldn't shatter.
