Mirror?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to take a handmirror and turn it into a mermaidy accessory? Like, you know the whole stereotypical image of a mermaid, sitting on a rock singing and looking in a mirror thing? Like that. Because I have a mirror, and it's boring and I'd like it to be more mermaidy. :) thanks!~

You could glue some shells or plastic starfish on the back of your mirror.

super glue or a hot glue gun and imagination are ur friends when it comes to mermaid accessories!!

My friend gave me a bunch of broken shell pieces. One of them was a really large conch with lots of the top swirly part and the some of the wide side part missing. I glued a mini mirror into it for my mermaid mirror.

Also, you could take some type of clay and make a shape around the mirror, like a starfish or an octopus, and let it dry, glue it on, and paint it.

ive been working on a seashell mirror for a while but you can also makr it look like an antique mirror from a ship wreck. that would be cool.not sure how to make it.sculpey? or plaster with a finish. mermaid pandorah has a nifty idea.

Using hot glue, lay down designs on the back of the mirror. Then, paint over the mirror with a metallic paint (you can also use spray paint With that method, you will want to tape a pice of paper or fabric over the mirror part and spray it). You can tarnish it by taking grey paint and, with a little brush, adding it in the corners and creases formed by the hot glue. Let dry a few seconds then take a paper towel and dab at the painted area to add texture.

If you were doing something like this, I would use pictures of tarnished metal, or pictures of things that are actually from a shipwreck.

what if you found something at an antiques store? They probably have some sort of vintage hand mirror that you could get and cover with pearls and such to keep the vintage antique look but give it a mermaid flare. just a thought.

I would defiantly recommend trying to find a vintage mirror, Victorian style maybe, at an antique store if you have one nearby. Sometimes you can get some really nice ones that are cheap.

I’ve got this plain hand mirror and want to turn it into something more “mermaidy” — you know, like that classic image of a mermaid on a rock, singing and gazing into a mirror. I was thinking of gluing on some seashells, pearls, and maybe a bit of netting or lace around the handle to give it a textured, ocean-inspired look. I might paint the frame with metallic or iridescent paints in seafoam green or turquoise, then add some rhinestones or glitter for that magical shimmer. Maybe I’ll even dangle a little charm from it, like a tiny bottle or starfish. Basically, I want it to look like something a mermaid might have found in a sunken treasure chest.
