Help with connections?

Hi, I've been going back and forth trying to figure out how to make my top. I first tried to make a bikini top to match my tail fabric... no dice, turns out I'm terrible at making my own tailored clothing. So now I'm thinking of making a shell top with the cups from an old bra as my base. I cut off all the straps, so all I have is the two cups, attached to each other in the middle. So I'm going to use fish net from hobby lobby for the back strap and neck strap. My question has to do with the netting: How do I make this thing so I can get it on and off? I tried tying two pieces of netting together before, and it didn't feel like a secure hold. So I figure putting the top on and just tying the netting (like you would with a bikini, knot behind the neck and back) wouldn't work. Or would it? What ways have other mers gotten around this problem? I rarely see the back of a shell bra, most folks try to show off the front, lol.

Ok, so I've got my top mostly done. I decided to make it a mostly seaweed top, with only a few little shells, after I found a few threads talking about how uncomfy shell tops are. The neck strap is a single piece, to avoid having to tie it, but I can't figure out how to make the back strap stay tied! It just keeps getting looser and looser the whole time I'm in the pool. Also, it is somewhat uncomfy because I have to make it so tight to keep it on. I admit, I'm terribly picky about my clothing comfort... So advice about comfort? And also that pesky back tie?

Hmm! That does look comfy.

It is :) And it stays in place! I have a lot of dancer friends, and they're always readjusting all night, no matter what size their bewbs are, unless they're wearing one of these.

Plus, for myself, I have post-baby "ladies", and the criss-cross bra is so nice because it gathers your whole area up and there's no spillage out the sides (the reason I do not do bikini tops), and it really does look good on everyone.
