This thread is intended for people to post links to places and accounts that steal mer-images, remove credits, and or try to pass the work off as their own. So people can find out about their own work, file the appropriate response, take action, and as a community we can file reports against people.

well, a few mers approached her and asked her to stop editing out the credits, and to either take the work down, or to credit them (or at least stop crediting the wrong people in hashtags) and she told them off.

I'm looking through them right now, and just.... wow. That's a lot of stolen photos. I know there are a lot of accounts that post mermaid photos, but I think they do try to credit who it is, or ask for people to let them know. :-/ Bah... this isn't right. I'll keep my eyes open.

Good lord, I started going through them one by one, rather than just scrolling down the page...that person is so annoying! You got powers from doing a mermaid spell? Really? Ugh, ten year olds really need to get off the internet. Or at least just stick to neopets. -_-

I can't seem to access her photos. Her profile is private so I have to follow her to see her posts, but after I hit the follow button, it just says request. Can someone tell me if she has any of my photos?

I saw one photo for mizuko. It was the photo of the close up of your fluke on the beach. There was also two for Mermaid Odette that I saw. Lots of Raina and mertailor tails. And she mistags most of them as mertailors when its not a mertailor.

That one has also been disabled. Like I love middle schoolers but really they should have given credit. Now the big girls are coming after them and they are running away like a dog with their tale between their legs

She keeps changing her name after I started posting about it to others and mentioned the whole "It's illegal and there can be legal ramifications" thing. She's changed her names 6 times today (every time someone tells me what the new username is) and made her profile private to try and keep people from reporting her. You can tell people exactly why this isn't okay- including this is people's LIVELYHOOD they're messing with, and it's ILLEGAL- and they still don't understand why it's a big deal because they have no gauge of respect or responsibility. I'm keeping track of her via photo URLs (profile urls will change but individual urls don't for this exact reason) and will continue to inform copyright holders so they can report her.

I checked the URL with themermaidgurl as the username. She put in the website field "I.dont.own.most.pics" or something like that. Still lame though.

So today the person in question has given credit to every real-life mermaid (anything that's not art) that she can find, and has started using an app to square up her photos so watermarks won't be removed. She came to me and apologized and said she'd do the right thing from now on, and I accepted the apology. She got some of the credits COMPLETELY wrong, like tagging Mike Van Daal tails as Mertailor.. *headdesk* . Buuut yea. If I see any wrong tags in my feed I'll correct them, but I'm not going back through all 700+ photos.
