I tried looking for a thread like this one but didn't find one, so I decided to start one of my own.
One of the best features I believe CA has is its hot springs. When they are all natural and don't have spas sitting on top of them they are perfect places to go mermaiding in.
My top favorite, which I've actually been to and loved is Mono Hot Springs in the Sierras. Great hiking trails to hot springs, inexpensive camping and a beautiful area.
Here's some great spots they have:
12690"Doris Lake, just a mile hike from Mono is only spring fed making the surface nice and warm for very comfortable swimming."
12700
12691Edison Lake, 5 miles from Mono Hot Springs.
12692Natural hot springs all along the river.
Mammoth Hot Springs. My dad used to have several jobs up there so every trip up there we'd stop and find every hot spring we could. Great memories. :) Couldn't find any good pictures of the swimming holes for this one. But the one we'd frequent was right in the middle of river on the main highway to Mammoth.
(My computer is over-heating so I'm going to post this portion before it shuts down on me.)
