Holy cow I have not been on in FOREVER :O I was up in WA with almost no internet >.<
Aaaaaanyways.
I was wondering if there were any mers who are roleplayers?
As in Tumblr, Instagram, I've even seen a few FB roleplayers!
I ask because I am an avid Instagram roleplayer (I roleplay Elsa from the new Disney move Frozen!!) And I had met a nice gal who roleplays as a self-made character, but is actually a mer! She isn't on Mernetwork, nor does she have a tail but she is a mer all the same :) So it got me thinking. How many roleplaying mers are on here?
-
Where do you roleplay and who is your character?
-
It would be cool if there are any Instagram roleplayers. I follow a LOT so I might even know ya! Oh, and my username is @elsa_arendelle :3

What kind of roleplaying are you talking about? My guilty pleasure is play-by-post roleplaying (making up a character and basically making a collaborative story with other people and their characters), but are you talking about live action (LARP)? I've done that as well, but not recently... cosplaying is expensive. XD

I don't have Instagram, and had no idea you could roleplay via it. :P

@SeaSister Collaborative story :) Haha I totally forgot all about LARP xD But I guess that too :)
On Instagram, you roleplay by posting a pic that has something to do with the kind of story or message that you are going for, and then you RP with others in the comment section :) Its so easy, simple and quick to RP in Instagram!

Like Seasister i play-by-post too, but im also a LARP'er, have been for around eight years now. That was what got me through school and all that xD I've never heard of roleplay on instagram though, guess that haven't reached europe yet :P

Ohh okay. Yeah, LARPing is fun hahaha. I kind of miss it. When it comes to play-by-post, however, I usually use warriorcatsrpg.com. Most of it is based on a series called Warriors (about feral cats living in complex social structures), but there are sections of the website devoted to roleplaying people, fantasy, movie-and-TV-based, etc. etc. I feel a little silly for doing Warriors roleplay still, but I confess that I do find it fun. Like I said, guilty pleasure. :P

I did an awesome x-men roleplay for like 5 years that was all forum based, it was ONLY original characters and my mutant was a mermaid named Raina hahaha I actually fleshed out a lot of who I am as a mermaid and got some support from that community. Eventually I got too busy, but they helped me so much with my writing, I made awesome friends, figured out my mermaid persona, and I still drop in on them to say hi once in a while. I really recommend them, the mod team has been the same for a number of years and the thing is so well organized. Tell em I sent yah! http://theultimatexmen.proboards.com/

Cool Raina! SeaSister, I LOVE Warrior Cats! Some of my favorite books are in that series :) And don't feel silly! I've roleplayed Jack Frost (Rise of the Guardians), but I gave the account to a friend. While doing that, I created a Periwinkle account (Disney Fairies) and then I created Elsa (Disney's upcoming movie Frozen). All Disney/Dreamworks, directed towards younger audiences haha! But I only RP as Elsa now, she is just too awesome! :O

SeaSister, I used to do Warriors rpg's when I was in middle/high school :) All the boards I was on pretty much died my sophomore/junior year though : / I know there's a whole new batch out now but I haven't kept up with the newest series of books. I do miss those old online communities a lot sometimes :(

I'm too busy these days to do regular rp'ing really though.

Raina--ohh, I love x-men! I've been searching for a way to download/read online all the comics, haha. i've read some but I kind of want to start at the beginning and just read a lot of the main storyline.

I love rping.

I do all kinds. Forum, MSN (now Skype), texting, email, fb, table top as well as LARP.

There is a growing larp community in my area and its sooo nice to see!

I even started my own forum, http://abituale-destino.proboards.com/index.cgi its based on Angels demons and humans. If you have questions feel free to pm me!

I roleplay with two friends of mine through forum or email and it works great. I've been at it for three years and I've gotten really good at it, I think. :3

Oh, I'm so glad that there are other people who enjoyed the Warriors books. :D
I, too, couldn't be bothered to keep up with the series. I just sort of grew out of them, and I've heard that they got worse after the second series (which is what I read up to). I still like the concept though, so I generally roleplay all-original characters, Clans, etc.

@Raina I'll definitely check out the X-men forum! Looks really interesting. :)

I roleplay with my room mate via Yahoo! instant messenger. I used to forum roleplay on an Anne Rice/Vampire Chronicles forum, but my dad got mad, I stopped and now I can't find them. I also did chat roleplaying via Ravenblack.com which was fun, but not up to the level I like.

Personally, I don't like the idea of instagram roleplay. I prefer chat (like Yahoo! instant messenger) or forum, like youn could do here.

As for characters, I have a *ton* of original and I roleplay as a few established characters from TV shows and books. :-)

@Kailani- Oooh! tell me some of your characters? :D And what turns you off about IG roleplay?

Technically it's a TYPE of role playing, I do Dungeons & Dragons. I've got two characters I'm currently playing, one in 4th edition and the other in 3.5 Pathfinder:

The first is Mauburz, a gigantically tall female orc who smashes stuff with a maul. She ran away from her family olive farm and ended up as the quarter master/cook on a pirate ship. She speaks in the third person because she learned to speak common from caravaners and, well, pirates.

The second is Bili, a transgender dwarf, though the rest of my party doesn't know that yet. He's an alchemist/herbalist with dreams of making his fortune selling adult toys to all difference races because it's an untapped market. He's phobic of water but took a job on a boat because he needs the money to start his business.

I probably won't do any roleplaying with it, but I have been developing my "mersona." It's mostly just backstory in case I decided to answer questions about my tail "in character."

I'm an avid roleplaying game manual reader, but haven't been able to find anyone to play with in years. I do have one ready-to-go roleplaying game on here http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?1101-The-Merfolk-of-Aegir-s-Cove-%28the-RPG%29&highlight=aegir%27s

... and a thread asking people what they'd want in a mernetwork roleplaying game (with a lot of my ideas):
http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?1516-What-would-you-want-in-a-Mer-Role-Playing-Game&highlight=aegir%27s

I roleplayed a lot on the-n.com's forums, and later when it became teennick... I have saved most of the roleplaying games I made there on word documents, though the roleplaying threads are pretty much dead there at the moment. I've tried roleplaying on about four or five other strictly roleplaying forum websites, but most of them died before they even got started, really.

I've considered LARPing, but most of the LARPs near me are in the city, and I'm in the suburbs and not wild about urban parking.

I have a library of roleplaying game books, either on my actual bookshelves, or downloaded from drivethrurpg.com, and the number of books has to measure in the several hundreds now.

I'm also an X-men fan and have roleplayed several characters based on different settings (an Exiles character, a character who lost his powers in the DeciMation is trying to get them back, a young student at the Xavier's academy, a rogue mutant villain, a Mutant X (tv show) successor, and so forth).

My Aegir's Cove character is a surf instructor who merged with the spirit of the Leafy Sea Dragon to become a sea dragon merman.

I roleplay via Skype (MSN) and I play D&D, I also do different LARPs and I'm a furry were I rp that I'm a shy dragon instead of a fierce one.
I did some forum and mIRC rp too. I've been like everything I can think of already, but I don't like playing humans, as I'm enough human already in my life

Oh, yeah, here's an older thread I made, attempting to catalog all the role-playing games, whether computer, ps2/3, LARP, tabletop, or otherwise where you can make merfolk characters without too much effort, or that have actual rules for playing mers.

I do mostly post-by-post RP, and am just starting to RP over on Tumblr. I have a few different characters that I roleplay as (at the moment, I'm working with a robot character), though I also have a mer character and a few others.

I've been RPing for a few years, and really want to do it more often, I'm just not too good at finding places to RP.

@Kailani- Oooh! tell me some of your characters? :D And what turns you off about IG roleplay?

Well, I can't really say much for my original because they're supposed to be for a book.

As for TV/Book characters: Dean Winchester (Supernatural), 9th Doctor, 10th Doctor, 11th Doctor, River Song, Amy Pond, Toboe, Hige, Tsume, Kiba, Cheza, Lestat, Darcia, Eris, Zephyra, Axel (Kingdom Hearts), Crowley (Supernatural), and possibly others. Haha

My main/go to character is usually a human female based on myself. It's usually easier for me to get into something that way. I like playing the human because so many people*won't and I used to frequent many fantasy rp or vampires. Being the only human makes things interesting.

I also have a dragon character, Nyrina, and my fursona, Minuet, her nickname is Mimic. My fursona is a shapeshifting wolf. :-D I, of course, have my mersona, but haven't roleplayed as her.

As for IG, I don't like it because IG is for photography, not roleplaying. I like role-playing where it is appropriate.

I ADORE role playing.

I never really quite got into it with "mermaids", but I have done some fantastic superhero themed role plays. I'm also a sucker for time period role plays from the past. I enjoy doing forum role play with about 4-8 other people. A good sized group I think. I'm currently involved within an almost 10 month old role play. I absolutely love it. Writing is just such a fun thing.

I don't have a go to character. For every role play I do, I make a new one. But, my absolute favorite right now is my megalomaniac villain, Umbra. She's basically the leader of the villains. I NEVER thought I would want to play a leader, or even a villain! I went out on a limb and figured out I play one wicked bad girl. It feels neat having almost an alter ego.

I never tried LARP but I think if someone went up to me and asked me to do it with a group I wouldn't question it. It looks like fun. I used to role play on World of Warcraft and I highly enjoyed that. Eventually I lost interest in the game and went back to forum role playing.

Every Sunday night I run a 3.5e D&D game in an online chat room from 8pm-11pm Eastern. "Heirs of Turucambi" is an undersea adventure filled with merfolk, sea elves, and the like.

Sounds really cool! And I'm totally with you LARP. I've never tried it, but Id most likely say yes if someone invited me.

Just wondering, does anyone know about Frozen here? It's Disney's upcoming movie and I roleplay as one of the main characters- Elsa the Snow Queen!
here's a link to the official website if you want to check it out. PS, the teaser trailer has NOTHING to do with the movie haha! But there are some really nice pics in the gallery! http://movies.disney.com/frozen/

I played a mermaid in a larp, it was a pirate special. They all stared in awe at us, I was sitting in the water and a friend was sitting on the little beach as her tail couldn't handle water. To bad I wasn't able to swim there as the water was only knee deep, would have loved to swim up to them

I do LARP and Table-top RPG. Of course, if the "table-top" isn't an option skype and google hangout and any other chat-services to the rescue. :)

I love LARP-ing because it gives me a chance to wear my costumes. I love my costumes :D
