I have some tips for you about the class in general. I just took Oceanography last semester at my college, and I know that a lot of people went into the class thinking that they'd be learning about whales and ecology and pretty coral reefs, and they didn't realize that biology is only a tiny fraction of Oceanography. A lot of what you'll learn will probably be bathymetry and geology and tides and such, which I think is still super intriguing. I just don't want you to be disappointed when you don't see cute baby seals on the PowerPoints every day. Haha :)
On a study skills note, make sure that you take detailed notes in class, and maybe find charts on Google images to go with your notes. If the professor posts his slides and notes online, you should still take your own notes. It helps you remember better. Also, make sure you read your textbook! Highlight the parts that the professor went over in class. If you're anything like me, then it'll be less of a chore and more of a reward. The ocean is full of super exciting things, so don't look at this class as something you HAVE to study in order to get good grades. Approach the class as a way to advance your passion. Decide to love everything that you learn, and it'll automatically be more interesting. Also, sit in the front row :)
