Mermen Question.

What's it like getting even more strange looks for being a boy or a male, or even a young adult while wearing a mertail. I know a lot of the times society is more accepting of females in tales probably because it seems less weird then a man wearing a tail. I'm not calling anyone weird, but I just wanted to know what its like from a guys perspective and view on the subject.

I don't have a tail yet (bout a weeks or two now till I order it), but I have gotten strange looks in my monofin. I guess it just comes down to are you gonna let the haters keep you down? My girlfriend (I refer to her as Miss Marlin here) thought it was a little strange at first, but now she thinks its awesome.

I am sure most of the Mermen here will agree that they are used to getting some strange looks in public places with their tail. You just never see mermen in movies, commercials, on the net etc. unless someone here has posted something. Like anything in life, if you surround yourself with people who love you and appreciate your eccentricities, who really gives a flying @#$%& what other people think! My friends have been waiting for the debut of my tail for months. (A silicone work in progress) I'm fortunate enough to live by the Gulf so I imagine the people will get a bit of a kick out of it. I could care less about the haters.

Right on! Be strong and be yourself. Up until that new Mako Mermaids series, mermen were few and rarely shown in mainstream media.

I have swam in my tail many times at our local beach on the lake an I have gotten many different reactions. But mostly don't care. Then there are others that think it is really cool, then the questions start. Where I got my tail from an how much an why I swim in a tail. but mostly all in good fun. An for the people that look at me with a disgusted look I just turn my head an leave it at that.
