Just curious on suggestions for the "Not-so-busty" ones out there. XP

My problems have been that when I swim the top "floats off" and sort of reveals a bit of well, you know.

If I don't have something with MAJOR shape.... I look flat as pancake. :-/

I was thinking of shells, but ones that I can keep on REALLY well (Not latex, yet... I don't have the $$)

I was also thinking of this idea:

I just don't know where to get netting. :-\ For cheap.

Do you have any Hobby Lobby stores near you? I get mine there. Alternatively you can purchase on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/100312-Decorative-Fish-Net/dp/B001MQ3JSQ

I've heard of Hobby Lobby, but I don't know of any around off the top of my head.... I'd have to look. ><

But damn... The amazon is nifty! And cheap! >> I think... Do you think there's enough there to make the halter top look?

Heres my post about making a scale top as you can see in the picture I'm not busty and it works it costs about 20 dollars http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?556-I-made-a-mermaid-top-...

The stuff in the amazon link looks to be a little thicker than the stuff I used but there was enough in there for a halter top. To be safe though I might get two.

You can buy netting at Michaels- they have several kinds (even "tones" of colors, even black) and several sizes. I usually get the 25 square foot ($10).

As for the look, the Mertailor has been using tops like that with scale patches and shells for years- his models can be pretty skinny (therefore not very busty at times) and it looks good on them!

That being said I have tried it with actual shells and it is not at all comfortable. I'd recommend it with scale patches or something similar. He's a pic from the WMAs of Twig and Mermaid Allie- they modified their tops to make it more fitting and gave it an extra umph with the shells and beads.

Also Moon Mermaid is a lesser busty mer, and she does a bra based top. I found with less busty mers if you do it right the shells can actually fill out your silhouette shape nicely.

Hm. I was going to try and do shells instead of scales, simply because I want my scales to match my tail when I get that one. >> So, I just wanted to work on the basics of my top so I don't need a different one for every tail. I'm sure I'll eventually make more, but money's tight at the moment. ><

I made my shell top pretty easily. I am a fan of shells since they can fill you out a bit and you can wear a bra (which also fills you out) with them. You can purchase some really nice shells on line on ebay or if you have a shell shop (hit up google, you may find you have one right near you!) you can purchase some shells there. The going price seems to be about $5 a shell for the bigger ones. The smaller they are, the cheaper they get. Then decorate. I used a marine haul adhesive (found at walmart) to attach my shells and they have yet to move after at least 5 dips in the pool. If you would like to try this and need more info, just let me know. I would be more than happy to help you out!

A picture of my top. Not quite finished with the decorating.

http://lexandrian.deviantart.com/gallery/28353938#/d41tmu3 I made a top . I tried shells but they just fall flat and it doesn't look nice, with a top or a bra with more dangley fabric it draws less attention to the lack of cleavage.

It is a bit delicate in the way that you do it, but I am of the opinion that if you have something with a shape to it, you can make it seem like you have more of a shape than you actually do. Something with structure will help you achieve this, not matter if it is a scale top, shells or a bathing suit.

Hello! I know I started this a while ago and never got back. ._. Sorry....

So I ended up going with shells and it ultimately still left me looking flat as a pancake. Boo...

I am looking at Raven's octopus top that has the head in the middle. I think and hope this will help. I love her seaweed tops, but they just don't match my mer. In the future, I'll probably get one, though. Haha

1- Is cleavage even natural? Isn't just cause by something pushing boobs together? And why is it even attractive? Why are big boobs attractive? I don't understand society! Like, deep, deep, deep, DEEP down, are a guy's natural instincts saying, "Damn, she's got some big breasts. I bet she's got big mammaries, too. Imagine all the offspring of mine that she could feed!" Haha
2- I am definitely a not-so-busty mer. I can't even really fit an A cup. All of my bras are push-ups. Small boobs look really weird on me because I have a large ribcage (causing them to be far apart) and also because it's not like I'm some tiny, in-shape thing. I've had people say things like, "I can't imagine you getting any skinnier!" but I conceal my fat well with clothes. Haha anyway, my point is that my small boobs look weird on my bigger frame.

BUT! There are guys that prefer small boobs, or even actually DISLIKE big ones! Do not let society brainwash you into thinking that ALL guys think the bigger the better. Also, as annoying as it is to hear...you need to learn to love yourself! I have been dealing with some crazy low self-esteem since I was 14, but I think I've come a long way. Now I see my small boobs as just making me more adorable because it's one more thing I have in common with Taiga from Toradora! ^-^ xD That's not to say I don't go back to that dark place sometimes, though.
But this isn't all about me! There are plenty of girls out there that work that small bust! And they look HOT! Lol I know there's a lot of new, young mers joining, and I just want to say don't be discouraged if you're not super busty! I imagine they'd just mess with your swimming, anyway :P

You made me laugh, but its so very true I've often thought that to myself too. From what my hubby told me its more of an odd fascination rather than attraction. Thus, "Wow! Look at those big boobs!" And that's about it. :D

(No clue why) I also have the trouble of just getting the darn tops to stay on. I even have trouble with swim tops! Haha! So, I was just looking for a solution. Thank you, though. ^_^ (They have gotten a bit bigger with gaining a few pounds. :D Yay! )

I am a small boob expert! I love my boobs even though I'm a 32c, and I have all sorts of tricks and tips that's make me love them more. First off, push up. Push up in everything, swim tops, bras, nude (little bronzer an highlighter does the trick for subtlety). I plan on making my top from a nude VS bombshell strapless bra I have that's too small. You know a bra is too small when it has that cupcake look. So I plan on hiding that with some sequins and seaweed and paint! I may add straps that can remove, or I may even make just a painted silicone match of my tail that goes in the shape of the bra with some netting. I love the new h2o girls tops bc they're halter but definitely give the girls something, they have way more cleavage as mermaids than humans.

A C cup is a dream for me, haha. I'm lucky if I fit into a B, though in victoria's secrets they keep insisting I'm an A. So I shop at aerie instead where I'm a B.

ANYWAYS. The only way I can get any kind of top to stay on me in the water is Pros Aid, it's awesome adhesive, and it at least makes sure that my top doesn't decide that my boobs are too small for it and decides to float away.

I actually had a nightmare that I bought Raven's octopus top, and as soon as I got in the water the octopus got angry it was attached to me and swam away.

A C cup is perfect. Much above that, and girls start thinking of reduction surgery due to back problems, much under that, and you're like poor Cleo who ONLY has boobs that magically appear in the mer-halter along with sprouting a tail ;)

LOL that's exactly how I am tho! I measure as a 32c but guys, I swear I'm flat. When I was measured I was like wait what?? Check you addition haha. I want a 34c, thoseeee are the perfect size in my eyes. I have the body and shape of a ballerina, minus the talent haha

Mermaid Veruliya

Also, am I the only one not opposed to plastic surgery? I've wanted a boob job for about six years now haha. And everyone tells me oh you'll fill out, but I actually have a cup size more than my sister, AND my mom. And aunt. And other aunt. It's not in the gene pool for me. I'm happy with my body, I know there's things I can work on as far as muscle and lower body, abs, ect. But I wouldn't mind being a cup or two bigger! 34c, 32/34d, what a dream.
I want the boobs I have in my most extreme push-up bra, without a bra! As far as Im concerned, if I still want one at 26, or after I have a kid, and I have the money, I'm getting one! Maybe I should start a plastic surgery thread for discussion..

MermaidHyli

Keri I would wait a bit. I also was flat as a cardboard box. Like I used to double bra in high school so I wasn't made fun of haha. Also add in the fact I was born without a thyroid so my maturing body didn't decide to catch up until junior year of college. I was a 32a FOREVER and then BAM! boobs popped out and I'm now a 34C haha So I'd say give it some time. =]

Mermaid Veruliya
08-03-2013, 09:45 PM
Haha lucky you! Yea that's why I've decided to wait until I was sure I was all there hahah. And after a kid, I heard that you can either get a few sizes bigger after a baby, or a few sizes smaller, and we can not have that for this mermama.

See, I don't get this.... (No offense meant, I just don't understand)

How come girls who are a c cup consider themselves small? I would love to be a C. I barely fill an A cup. :-/ I don't really have anything to push up. I could once and used artful stage make up to "enhance" them.

Also, why do I see girls with boobs that are *quite* large that are supposedly a D cup, but then have a friend who is a D change in front of me (my friends and I are pretty lax about changing) and her girls aren't all that huge? @.@

Last I was measured, I have 1.5" of boob. That's tip of nipple to ribcage. :-/ Also, I'm 24. T.T I'm not expecting a growth spurt.

(If you want, I have done nude modelling and the photos can be found here (http://uniquenudes.deviantart.com/). I'm the red head model Lyra Knight)

Hey guys...just so you know...cup size changes according to band size. If you are a 32c, the cup is about the same as a 34b or a 36a. Basically for each band size increase you drop a letter in cup size. It's all about proportion...have you ever noticed how much larger the cup sizes are on bigger bras? If a 38 d had the same size cup as a 32 d, there would be a lot more bra sizes needed. So when people say a c cup is perfect...just be aware that a c cup varies. I wear a 34b because its most comfortable. I'm actually a 28d technically(if they actually made this size! I have a small ribcage) but can wear a 32c, 34 b or 36a( which is just too loose) all of these cup sizes are about the same.( As band size increases the width of the cup usually increases a little) this is why a woman can be a dcup but not be much bigger than a b cup!

As for what having kids does to your boobs....it varies. My friend was barely an a before kids and now she has next to nothing. After breast feeding 2 kids, mine are about the same, if not a little bigger. I think it really depends on how much weight you keep after having a baby. I was 105lbs before I had kids and I'm 10 lbs heavier now. If I lost that 10 lbs, I'd most likely lose a cup size too. Most women keep weight on after a baby so their boobs are bigger.

As for surgery...I would never do it. I'm happy with what I have.

Mermaid Veruliya
08-04-2013, 10:03 AM
Exactly! My friends are always like um YOU are not a c cup. And I'm just like honey get you facts straight. Yes, a 32c is practically the same as 34b, just different shape of cup, so it depends what's comfortable. My ribcage is also extremely small! 26.5 inches around, 32 on the tightest notch is loose on me if it's not VS, and sometimes aerie (they actually have 30c online!), I think they're bands are a bit stretchier. But since a 26d is nonexistent, I wear 32c. Still flat y'all :)

I'm quite comfortable with my lack of cleavage. It took me a long time to actually like my figure during high school, but near the end (around Junior year) I really loved my body. I'm quite petite 5'1" and I weigh 106 lbs. (I really wanted to be curvy, I have an hourglass shape but no boobs and no butt) I thought I was a 32 A, but since my bras aren't quite fitting comfy, I may go in to get measured. I did have a 34 C bra that got mixed up when I went on a bra shopping spree, and for laughs I decided to put it to see how much I needed to fill out and...it fit! Pretty well too, I was really shocked. Then I tried on my other bras of 32 A and they just looked weird on me. Like they were too small.

Honestly, I wish my boobs were a little smaller, just for the sake of saving money o___o I'm a 32DD, and GOD DAMN it is almost impossible to find bras that fit me. If I go up a couple of strap sizes and down a cup or so then there's more variety, but after a few months the straps get too loose even on the tightest notch.
The only place I can consistently find 32DDs are places like Victoria's Secret and other "high-end" shops, and for something as necessary and every-day as a bra, I do not have the funds to shop there D:

OMG IM SO JEALOUS! That's the worst problem to have!! Haha, bras are one of my FAVORITE things, so I have always stocked of coupons and deals and shop sales. For Christmas last year I got a $70 bra for $29.99. And it's my favorite, so comfortable and the shape is really flattering.
I have like 3 pairs of shoes but 7 or so bras, not including sports bras. They're my favorite splurge. If I had bigger boobs I would be so much more excited because I could get the demi bras with no padding or the solid lace bras with just underwire and lace. Can you tell I'm like a bra enthusiast?! Lol most women hate them

Since when is a C cup small? I'd say (especially where I live I don't know about the rest of the world) a B or C is average, I'm a 10C Austalian sizes and yeah, there are times where I wish I was just that little bustier, or times when I wish I was that little bit smaller. Mainly when buying swimmers. I always feel like my boobs are just gonna fall out (and have done on the odd occasion in the surf) I hate those stupid tops where they're just 2 triangles with strings. They offer no support and for some reason no place around where I live sells more supportive bikini tops. But mostly I'm really happy with my boobs and wouldn't change a thing ^_^

Guys, you have the wrong idea about bra sizes. 13410 13411
The first image shows how cups change with bands. The second shows that these different sizes all have about the same size boobs! Women need to get out of their head that ANY C or ANY D is huge porn star size boobs! Men have ruined womens ideas of bra sizes, which is why most women wear the wrong size and say bras are uncomfortable. They think, I couldn't POSSIBLY be a D?! So they keep wearing Bs and keep getting the wrong support.

I'm on the right, my sister is on the left. This was a year or two ago? I was wearing a 32b back then, but I can tell you nothing has really changed haha. (Except for skin and hair and height, three inches to be exact ;) )
So now I'm at a 32c, but I'd like to try on a 30C and 30D, because I feel my band is too loose sometimes.

Wow, Keri... You... You actually seem to be pretty close to my size! (I gained some... *ahem* boobage over the past two weeks... At least I know where my fat goes. >> Hahaha) I've been wanting to do some serious bra shopping, but I lack the current funds to do so. I wanna try on my band sizes then try the cups, but first I REALLY wanna do the measuring thing. I just haven't had time yet. I was packing for a trip and just got back on Saturday and have had a bunch of stuff to do. I still need to unpack. @.@ Crazy days, and tomorrow I leave for San Diego in the morning. XD

So, recently, I haven't been wearing bras AT ALL. All of my bras have just had it. Done gone and kaput. They have literally fallen apart. T.T Even my favourite bra... so soft.... so comfy... so not digging into my skin.... Luuuuuuuuuuurve. ANYWAYS, I've been wearing Lingerie Solutions (r) "Bring it up Breast Shapers" They're just stick on silicone "cups". They're super comfy and hide the annoying poking nipple that you (Well, I get it at least) get with no bra. It's really nice and reuseable for up to 25 times. Though, I've probably used it more than that... I manly just use them to cover the nipple, not for support. :-P

So, this weekend shall be bra measuring!

... And reminded me of yesterday when I was shopping at La Senza. I'm usually a small 34b, but the shop lady recommended I try a 32c and I was like O.O NO. YOU DO NOT KNOW MY BREASTS.

I know this is a really old thread but I just measured myself and it completely makes sense why my bras haven't been fitting quite right! I've been wearing a 32A (because my boobs are small and I thought it was right), but the reddit thing days 28D because of band size! So I'm still flat, but I have hope. :)

Yeah, definitely! 28D is just a sister size to 32A. Be sure to check out their community and figure out your breast shape because unfortunately you'll likely have to order new bras online (28 bands aren't sold in any chain stores, but you may be able to find a specialty boutique near you).

I am a 38D, or a 36DD on good days LOL. I Wish my boobs were smaller. I hate having to wear giant bra instead of a cute frilly one. And I can never wear those adorable tops with the thin straps, or triangle bikinis. My Bikinis have to have underwire just to keep the girls afloat! When I horse back ride I have to wear two sports bra and a shirt with a shelf bra built in. MY husband calls it the Unaboob. If I wanted to wear a cute mermaid top with shells I would need to kill a quahog clam and strap that baby to my chest. I don't think people realize that big breasts don't mean perky tatas that fill out those triangle top bikinis. I put one of those on and it's spillage on all sides and flat in the middle. Like a soft pillow at 6am where your head is in the middle, but on the mattress and the sides are all puffed up around your face cause you sank. Most of my bras spill out the front and I get double muffin top. Soooo attractive. Be thankful for little boobies. I would LOVE more shopping options and cuter bras!

I'm actually building my first top now, using a training bra as the base. Because it's not meant for support or shaping, there isn't any extra padding in it so it's a lot easier to attach stuff to it and it will dry faster. I'm also getting some silicone seashells from an Etsy seller that will hopefully not squish me flat. I'm so excited!

I am so stinkin' flat too. I am currently trying to make a mermaid top, and I was going to use shells from Michaels, but all of them had too much curve. As in, the natural ruffles actually just made you see everything underneath the shell. I am now crocheting a top with the crocodile stitch. For non-crocheters, the crocodile stitch looks like layers of scales. I found that the 3D texture of the stitch actually made my boobs look a little bit bigger! I will most likely post photos when I'm finished. :)

Oh my god oh my god oh my god. I actually found a bikini top in my size that is not meant for a child! This is excellent timing, because I should be getting my Fin Fun tail tomorrow (if the UPS gods are smiling on me. I missed the delivery today) the top I've been working on is actually turning out TOO well. I planned to hide the parts of the bra that wouldn't be sea shell covered with fishnet. So I got out the dress dummy and started draping.

This is mostly just tacked and pinned in place, but it just looks awesome! I didn't want to cover up the netted cups with shells! But as I mentioned previously, this bra has no padding. White bra+cold water=nope!

But I was at Walmart today and they had triangle string bikini tops on sale for three dollars, and they have removable pads. So I've taken the pads out of the bikini, I'm going to tack them to the net bra, and then use my silicone shells on the bikini top. Now I have TWO mermaid tops!

Thanks, Maethor! I'm going to add pearls in different sizes and colours at the knots on the netting to fancy it up a bit as well. Here's hoping it works all right on my actual body- my dress form is a B-cup, and I'm AA.

I've also glued my silicone sea shells (try saying that three times fast!) to the bikini top and have that smooshed under a box of heavy things. That should be cured in time for me to go swimming tomorrow when my tail comes!

As soon as I can drive again (still in recovery post surgery) I'm going to get some shells and some netting and work on a top. I'm a 32C which is such an awkward size.

Hi! I know this post is quite old now, but as I also have small breast myself, and even rib cage malformation issues, I just wanted to share some ideas and tips if anyone needs it (^w^)b
It won't make your breasts grow bigger, but it can create the illusion that they're not that smalll.
So here are some designs that can help (^w^)b

:pearl:For the up left one, you can glue a lot of shells to create more volume on your breasts, just be careful of the shape it make, you can also add some starfishes to decorate and add more volume.
Also, the pearls chains would distract attention from the breasts themselves, and the ones under the bra can create the illusion of a thinner waist, which can help make your breasts area looks more voluminous and accentuate the hourglass body shape effect. And there is also the possibility to add bra pads inside for a natural shape and to push-up your breasts

:pearl: For the up right one, the pearls create a shiny effect, and combined with some bra pads, it creates the effect of even more volume.
You can also add a droping pearls chain with some pendant under the bra in the middle, to distract attention from the breasts.

:pearl:For the bottom left one, choose a thick netted fishnet so that your skin won't show too much, add some skin colored fabric under it to really hide your skin. It will also allow you to add bra pads inside the fabric
Place starfishes, shells, or whatever you like, rightly to hide your nipples, and you can add some decorative shells and pearls on the net.
This way you have volume, and the illusion of skin showing without actually showing it (>w<)b

:pearl: For the bottom right one, pick some skin colored bra (with or without pads), the clam shells combined with the cone shapped shells will create volume, and the pearls chains forming a V shape should make your bust look longer and thiner, and your breasts area more voluminous.

:pearl: There is also the option of a sequins bra. The light reflection on the sequins will add volume and the sparkling effect should divert attention.

I hope this will help you if you didn't know how to deal with this part of your mermaid life!

IBTC, anyone? (Itty Bitty Titty Committee...I was their president!)

And doing the chest expansion exercises while chanting "We must, we must, we must increase our bust...the bigger the better, the tighter the sweater, the boys are depending on us!"

Geez, we were jerks when I was a kid.

Am I the only teenage girl who doesn't want big boobs? Like honestly, they've been getting bigger since I put on some weight (currently trying to lose) AND I JUST WANT THEM GONE.

Oh, if I only knew then what I know now! But hey, I'm in my 50s and they still don't touch underneath!

So funny story. My friends and I joke about what kind of porn we'd be in based on our boobs. I always get placed in the barely legal "teen" category.

Better than already being in the MILF category at 21. Porn gives such unrealistic ideas about breasts!
