So, I don't know about the rest of you, but merfolk have been a bit of an obsession with me for years :P I was always mermaid enthusiast, but the obsession came with the discovery of swimmable tails several years ago. So let's come out with it! I'll start- you guys continue the list!
You know you're obsessed with merfolk when..
1. You start a online forum dedicated to merfolk costuming
2. You spend way too much time Admining and/or posting on said forum
3. Said forum actually becomes popular
7. You discover there can actually be a lot of drama in the merfolk community
4. You have an alternate Facebook account for all of your merfolk friends
5. You get mermaid or merman "urges", meaning you see a pretty body body of water and get a strong urge to swim in it with or without your tail
6. Your friends and family actually get sick of hearing about your mer stuff all the time
7. You think about big incriments of money in relevance to how many tails you would be able to buy with it (Ex: That's 1 1/2 Mike Van Daal Latex tails worth!)
8. You think of smaller increments of money in how many cool mer accessories you could buy (Ex: That's 1 octopus, one mermaid wreath, and a mermaid hair clip's worth..)

You have the urge to doodle mermaids all the time in sketchbooks and random pieces of paper.
You have to explain said doodles of mermaids to random people :)
You are counting all of your money to buy things when you don't even have a job (ah sad story)
You spend at least an hour or two a day surfing random mermaid sites
Those two hours are instead of doing homework O.e
When it snowed, you had the urge to take a picture in it, wearing a mermaid tail :D

Jewel de Lune -- I can def. agree with many of yours! I actually have a shoot in the snow coming up next week :D
Adding my own:
You look at interesting spaces--the steps down to the basement, the mall, the hallway to your bedroom, the inside of a museum--the garden--and picture yourself swimming through these spaces filled with water. (I did this at work all the time! Imagining myself swimming through the store as if I were flying)

I use to do that all the time! I would often pretend I was a mermaid when I was a child, "swimming" through the house, pretending it was under water. Worked well for a land locked mer ;) I had a dream a few weeks back where I could just swim-fly through the air. I had a beautiful tail too- one of my best mer dreams thus far. Only to be topped by the one where I was swimming with Hannah and we were friends and we both had magical mer powers ^_^;

Yes! Oh, my first house was always full of water... as was the mall I worked at in Japan Town SF! It led to many drawings..
Those sound like lovely dreams! ^o^ What an experience swimming with Hannah would be.. with mer-powers!
I've had one where I swam through the air... but I've yet to have the magical mer dream!

3. You know what the words: neoprene, createx, sillicone, latex, and monofin are AND get excited when you see them.
4. Your New Year's resolution is to hold your breath for a longer period of time.
5. Your next vacation is semi-based on where you can get great pictures in your tail.
