Which tail fins are your personal favourites?

This is an extension of the brainstorming I'm undertaking for my upcoming tail, so I thought I'd ask the good opinions of you lovely folks. :P

What's your personal preference for tail fins? Do you favour dorsals, side fins, heel fins, front fins-- or a combination of them-- and if so, what combination? Size, shape, detail?

I like cool side and hip fins :D I'm personally not a fan of dorsal fins on mermaid tails. That's the zoologist in me coming out and being picky. Fishes have dorsal fins to stabilize them in their side-to-side swimming motions. Mermaids use an up-and-down motion like marine mammals, therefore it makes no sense for them to have a dorsal fin. It just gets crunched up around the knee area and serves no purpose. I know some people love the way they look, but it just bugs me. Sometimes the smaller ones that only appear on the bum and lower leg/calf area look ok, and they don't get bunched up at the knees. Anyway, I just think side fins look better, as long as they're not too bulky.

personally, I'm not a big fan of any extra fins. I mean, they look great on everyone else who has them, they just aren't really for me

It also bugs me when mermaids have huge dorsals. If they stop above the knee then I like them. I plan on having a short frilly one to make my backside appear a little curvier, same as a few frilly ones on my hips and calves, and end of my fluke, maybe. I also love more simple designs, so I prefer fins to be light in color and almost translucent at the tips. But I'm extremely picky haha

I looooove dorsal fins but I agree with you guys. I don't like it when they are to big and they bunch up in the knee area. I fell in love with dorsal fins and side fins when I saw Hannah mermaid's tails that had them. The silicone fins she has now are pretty but not my style.I like elaborate, small fins lol.

I like the little hip fins that lay flat on the front of a tail at the level of the hips. Strangely most times that I see someone wearing a tail with little fins like that, they're crooked and not centered on the body. Could anyone say why that is?

I like fin folk' s heel fins. I feel like they work with the shape of the foot really well

I love dorsals that are either really high up along the top, or along the calves.
I really love hip fins but not really the usual ones.
I also really love the idea of ankle fins that stick out to the side.

I looove me some pectorals. If I had no other fins at all, I'd at least have those.
