I'm making a new tail from scrape fabric so fare its been hell but I got the main part down. Now All I need is to make the part for my fin.
This tail looks like a pink cuttlefish.
My first tail will be scrap fabric I find around he house as well :) So no worries, I'm in that boat with you! Thankfully I moved to a house with entirely too much craft supplies, free for me to use.
I'd love to see photos when you're done! MacGuyver Mermaids FTW!

My first tail was also made from scraps from my first golden Belle-dress:

Fenicia, your tails are such an inspiration! :) I'm so happy to see that decent tails can be made out of fabric other than neoprene and 4-way spandex. My first tail will be stretch velvet and some sheer pink material (fluke and fins).

Stretch velvet is nice and looks like dolphin-/sealskin, but is very heavy when wet ;)
LOL I figured It would be! Not exactly swimsuit material, but hey, if it what's available... I'll be trying to keep mine tailored pretty skintight to try and reduce that as much as possible, and also using a much lighter fabric for the fluke and fins I think might help in my case :P If nothing else, it will force me to be a stronger swimmer haha!
