Ok, so I'm going to the beach this month and am bringing my tail. Now one thing that puzzles me... How do you get your tail on with out kids seeing. That totally ruins it!
Now I know the most common answer would be, change in your room and have someone carry you down to the beach. But I'm not sure who would do that in my family. I'm a little heavier than when I was 5 and loved to be carried everywhere. And if you add almost 10 years and who knows how much I've grown to the mix. In not sure how that would pan outnumber my dearest brother...? And that seems a little weird... A mermaid coming from a hotel...?
So, any advice and or suggestions on 'how to become a mermaid... Undercover'!? Please help. And I have a few rough ideas that probably won't work but one sticks out. Going into the water so I can sit and you can't see my legs and then having someone come over and help me put my tail on. Maybe hide it between you and a boogie board and walk out there and change. Then go under and back up and swim up to the beach? So thanks and please do help!

Maybe find a more secluded side of the beach, or over by a jetty or pier or someplace sort of out of the way, change there, then swim over to the 'main' beach?

I like the 'gems', too. I also had thought about a bag of mixed small shells, as being small enough to fit in a small drawstring waist pouch. I think the shell whistles from the Oriental Trading Co. might be fun, and the fish squirts, but they are bigger, so harder to tote around. (Mermaid backpacks, anyone?! Or maybe a pack fish? ;) )

One thing you could probably do to avoid people seeing the tail when you bring it down to the beach, or wherever you're changing, is to bring it in a large garment bag, like for a wedding dress. Although I don't have one, I imagine that a large tail would be about the same size as a gown, so that should work well if you don't want the kiddies to know what you're up to. Now, why you'd be bringing a wedding dress down to the beach is a question that I imagine the parents would be asking, but probably not the kids. XD

Go out where its pat ur waist and try to slide on ur tail or a tleast where its deep enought to sit

I'd have to see how busy certain places are this year. We are kinda too far away from a peir to go down and change everyday an swim back. Lol. We usually walk down looking for shark teeth and shells a couple times a day. But I like the little baggy idea, but that's a lot of baggies. I did find this one on eBay that sells them bulk and you choose the color. That's a possibility. I just really want to stick to the ocean made things. Things that kids can learn from. Like a type of shell that something lived in.

Maybe a large tote. Or even between two boogy boards and if you can still see it, wrap a towel around it?...

I like this. Simple. Act like your tanning/sleeping even. The towel or blanket probably wouldn't have to be huge since my tail is large but not that big. ;)

This is probably one of the easiest ways. Except for the waves that could really mess your "transformation" up. Lol
