I was thinking of investng in a tank . however, due to the prce, i can't do it alone. what do you guys think about pooling our resources and having a joint tank just for the use of the great lakes meremaids?

Just fyi I priced it, it's like 30,000 for an actual good tank, and a couple grand for a stand! (I know I'm not in your pod, but just sharing ;) )

Not to mention that you would have to make it accessable to everyone in the great lakes pod. so that means that it would either have to travel or you would have to have a whole booking party where mermaids book it for weeks or months.

Has anyone looked into MAKING one? I know it would be hard and very time consuming, but it seems like there would be a class as the local community college that would be helpful. Or I don't know. Just thinking out loud I guess.

Insurance won't cover anything not made by professionals. So far all those who tried had the tanks break while they were in them. Dangerous stuff to be experimenting with.

Fintastic makes large tanks for 50-100 bucks per gallon, depending on materials used and any hoses or anything that feed into the tank. Acrylic is best because it is optically clear, is lighter weight and can be repaired if scratched. It is more expensive, but worth it I'm sure. From what I was told, a traveling-safe 1000 gallon acrylic tank would run you about 12,000 before shipping.
