I'm selling it because the small problems really bother me. I've been going back and forth on it for a while now. I love the colors, and I absolutely love the fluke shape. The dern creases in it drive me crazy though. :/

There is nothing wrong with the overall construction of the tail. It's all minor details. I'm very detaily...

Goodness, I remember seeing that tail posted! It's beautiful! It's too bad you've had a bad experience with Mertailor. I love the fluke shape but there's no way I'd fit in it. I'm a size 9 shoe!

I know my feet are tiny. >.< I actually logged into my Flickr account one day and thought "why do I have all of these photos of my tail here again?" and deleted them. Then when I came back here I realized my review didn't make as much since w/o links working so I deleted it with the intention of fixing it later, but I haven't yet. I pretty much just need to redo it.

I was really trying to not pick my tail apart on a ridiculous scale. I just think I didn't get the quality I paid for in the end. To me, there is no excuse for draping a fluke off of a table while it cures.

If anyone is interested and wants to see the detailed, me picking it apart photos, I have them. My review wasn't taken down because I have been debating selling it. I would rather the person know exactly what they are getting than to be in any way disappointed in what they receive.

Ugh, absolutely. That really made me mad. I'd like to see how all his "fans" feel when they pay $5000 to give him a design that's close to their heart, and watch him go to town with his artistic license.

In any case, Brit, I wish you all the best selling it. If I were a bit thinner (and didn't already have a tail being made elsewhere) I'd probably fit it... Small footed girls unite!

All those facebook super fans will never be buying a tail from anyone and should thus be ignored. There is a difference in being an artist and creating art, and being a craftsperson making an item to order for a client.

I don't know the whole story, or all the things wrong with this tail...BUT....This tails colors are beautiful! And it really sucks that you didn't get what you paid for.

I'm wondering though....would it be possible to cut the fluke and repaint it? The fluke is beautiful the way it is, but the creases really bother me too! I hate to see you sell such a lovely tail.

I think I'd honestly rather keep it or let it go with the tail. Sorry! I hadn't even thought about repairing it. I have a friend who does a bunch of casting that could probably help me out with that. ^_^ If I still have it for a while and change my mind, I'll let you know. It's a bit small like my tail. :/ My rib cage is about 27" around and it's tight on me.

You may want to see about getting it fixed. Ask Mertailor, he's been trying to be better about customer service lately. If you asked him and he says no, The MerNation has an eMERgency clinic! They will fix it and are pretty reasonable on price.

I was looking for a little over $2000 for it. I was honestly going to take that money and probably buy another. In my opinion, you are making a VERY BIG mistake asking Eric himself to repair your tail. While he has orders way overdue and the success of his new flippers, your tail is gonna be on a waiting list and you are not going to see your tail back for months. Just my intuition and i may be right :(

Beside, You should see the review about MerNation. They are very nice people with an awesome customer service. They would do perhaps a better job by repairing it and sending your tail back much much sooner. Just saying.

The thing about tails is...until it comes down to actual workmanship (which is hard to judge without having a tail by BOTH members, or at least plenty of experiences from both sides), it's all opinion. Saying that MerNation isn't as good as Mertailor is just an opinion--just like how I disagree with it. I realize you stated it as an opinion and I appreciate that, but I think that's more of the appearance of the tails than the workmanship which, again, is difficult to judge.

From everything I have read on here so far, a successful tailmaker must strike the right balance between crazy artistic skills and amazing customer service. When only one or the other is in play, they will have troubles and hurt feelings. In the end, it's not so complicated: put 100% of your artist's talents into each tail and treat each and every client like a rockstar. Recipe for success!

I'm very happy with how willing he was to help me with this. Everyone makes mistakes. He's replacing my fluke at no cost. I have a festival coming up, and he has assured me that I will have my tail back in time. I'm not going to sit here and wonder whether this will happen or doubt him in any way. Until someone does something wrong, you can't start throwing stones at them. I'm ecstatic that he was willing to work something out, especially since I expected to have to pay something for it.

Not to be dramatic, but several people came to me with mernation complaints, and I happen to also know insider info too haha (I always find out everything....) so I'm not confident about their skills yet. I do think Eric should replace your entire fluke. When I saw the photos I was shocked. There is a clear imprint on the fluke. Also that top looks worse than my 2 year old silicone top. It looks so worn and sloppily done, the seams are terrible. I had avoided saying anything on your original review because I didn't want to start drama, but since he's keen for the drama I'm not holding back now :p so yeah, he at least needs to replace the fluke. I think he's on a kick to make sure the community sees him in a good light right now, especially after yesterday's mishap. So hopefully you'll get it done nicely and quickly.
