I'm flabbergasted!

I'm just so excited!

After a gig a couple of weekends ago, a client and I were talking. She said she had checked out my YouTube channel and Facebook, and wondered why I didn't have more underwater stuff (films and videos). We chatted about how difficult it is to get good footage and photos underwater (my underwater posing is rubbish) and she asked if there were cameras for underwater or if you simply bought a separate housing for a "dry" camera. I let her know that both methods can be used, and she asked me what the best underwater camera was. I let her know I was no expert, but what I had seen of the GoPro Hero line was good. I said someday I'd get one, and we talked about YouTube and Merbellas videos she'd seen.

Today, I woke to this email:

"Thalassa,

Thank you so much for attending our annual pool party! You were the hit of the show. The kids loved you, and haven't stopped talking about their swim with the mermaid!

I love what you are doing and how you are doing it, and I want to help you in any way I can. In your Paypal account you'll find a little extra money from me. Don't worry, it's not a mistake! I researched the GoPro camera and it seems great. What is in the account should be enough to cover a camera, card and a few accessories. The exact items covered are noted in the details of the payment. I hope you will take this gift and use it to share your mermaid style with the world!

I was floored, and responded that I couldn't take such a generous gift. She replied:

"Thalassa,

Don't worry! As you saw from our party, we have plenty to suit our needs and we like to help out new performers. Especially performers with such a unique flair and care for the kids they work with! I will consider it fair compensation if you use it well and perhaps agree to appear at our pool party again next year. You were a joy to work with!

I checked my Paypal, and there is enough there for a GoPro Hero3 Black, LCD screen and extra battery. I'm just...I don't even know what to say! *dances* I guess the moral of the story is be genuine and nice to everyone, you never know what may come of it!

(Now I need to work on my posing so any pictures don't turn out crap. XD)

Aww, thanks all! I really don't deserve it but I'm extremely honored that you think I might. :-)

Right now, I'm mostly scared of the thing, haha. I suck at posing underwater and I know you can't really get good pics with a bad model.

Funny story: FedEx almost refused to give me my package because it had my mermaid name written on it. Good thing I had a few business cards and a news article to prove my identity!

"We accept the love we think we deserve."

Basically, if you have a sense of self worth you will attract those who will respect you, and if you dont you won't.
