What kind of literary mer do YOU want to see?

My NaNoWriMo project for this year will contain mere, and I wanted to ask our mets Oppinions. Because I'm hoping these mers will be 'PROPER' or whatever you'd like to call it, and I know people have Oppinions on how they will basically be represented. There will probably be an appearance of a Naga, pirates, probably a sea witch (who will also be a mer.) and such along those lines. I hope to hear all your oppinnions! Thank you!
