Hi everyone!

My name is Dymphna -- I haven't quite figured out what my mermaid moniker yet. (Suggestions? :D)

I come from the sunny shores of Singapore, and I came to know of this forum through a search (mermaiding, being a mermaid, etc). I've always loved the ocean, and I'm a certified PADI diver for the last 5 years; the thought of being a mermaid came to me many times, but I never had the courage to step into this until now.

I haven't got my fins or tails yet -- I'm really just starting to digest the information found though since they are vastly overwhelming at the moment. I probably start with a monofin though, before getting my first tail (the angel tail from aquatails looks so very gorgeous!) since my dolphin kick is terrible (according to my dad, I look like a drowning caterpillar with the dolphin kick) -,-'''

I guess that's pretty much from me for now :)

Cheers
Dee

欢迎欢迎, and welcome!

There are quite a few Singaporean Mers around on the site!
You can also have a look at the Pods, though there isn't one dedicated to Singapore yet, there is at least a thread :D

:)
Syrena is from SG, I believe she's doing gigs too, maybe you can team up?
(I'm a big fan of merteams ;) )

Oh yes, I got into contact with her on FB and had been asking questions to fill in the gaps.

I think my biggest question at the moment is really the use of monofins and tails in public pools. I haven't found much answers on this!

Well, it's handled differently everywhere.
Some will let you, some won't.
You have to try it out, really.

You could ask beforehand whether monofins are ok;
if they are, so should be a tail, since it's nothing different
(so far as the materials are waterproof, and the tail is clean).

If the pool is very thronged, though, I'd go without tail.
You can practice dolphinkick all without props ;)
