This picture was taken as soon as I saw my new tail, which was placed in our guestroom's bed upstairs by my husband who wanted to make this moment extra special for me :) The quality and talent that went into this tail are marvelous. I scanned for bulky seams/imperfections and found none. The Mertailor answered my extra questions about this tail before and after its arrival. It was mailed out to me within 3 days of purchasing it. I have not tried it on yet, so I cannot post on how it fits/swims yet. I will add that later on with pictures/videos. I feel extra confident in this purchase bc I bought my first realistic tail from him some years ago, and after I fixed a mistake that I made on it (added too much silicone which squished in my pockets), that tail is still alive in kickin like 4 years later. If you follow directions on caring for a high quality tail, it will last years! On a mersonal note, I went with a dragonskin silicone tail bc aquariums were concerned about the sequined tails "shedding" in their tank, and I wanted something stronger for swimming with whales and sharks. We all have spiritual connections with our tails and I was concerned that maybe I wouldn't have such a connection with something that I haven't made, since I've been making my own tails for years. Funny thing about this tail is that I saw it at Mer-Palooza and it was love at first sight. I hugged it lol. But I seriously thought it was someone else's and that I didn't have the look to pull this off anyways. I contacted the Mertailor after much deliberation to buy a tail (I really admired many tailmakers at Mer-Palooza like Jesse), and I asked him, which tail of his would fit me as well as be complimented by my natural dark hair/ and platinum blonde and redhead wigs. He then chose this tail and I trust his artistic judgement enough to go with it. Everyone who has come by my home to see my new tail has all agreed that this tail is absolutely perfect for me. It even has stripes in it that matches a few of my rescue cats :) I'm making my own latex top to go with it and I can't wait until it cures and I can take videos and pictures to share.

I'm happy for you, this tail is gorgeous and i hope that you will have good memories with it. :)

But again, this is not a product that i would buy because the monofin is waaaay too obvious... Methinks that the quality of his flukes is dropping. He did much better in the past.

Looking forward to see the pictures and maybe the video. Have a nice swim! :thumbs-up:

Bonnie,

your tail is beautiful and you look so happy! As for the monofin showing, I would just call it fluke bones. Is it a wave/rapid monofin or one he made? I love the edge of the fluke and the colors are perfect for you! I can't wait to see video and pictures!

Thank you Jessica. It is a monofin that he made. From what Mermaid Neri told me when I met her in Oahu, his monofins outperform the Competitor by Finis ones. I personallly use a Rapid in my other tails.

Arion, yes you can see the outline of the monofin in this pic, but what was funny was that all the people who've come over to see it have asked where the monofin was....so I guess it takes a mer to see it, and non-mers don't see it. Thanks for keeping it real.

It looks beautiful!!!

I don't get people's beef with the monofin lines showing. I feel like you can't really notice them in any tails unless you're deliberately looking for them.

That is a really nice tail!!! And about the part about the outlines of the monofin showing, I think you might be right when you said that it takes a Mer to see them and that the non-Mers miss it. Either way that tail is B-E-A-Utiful!!!

That's a video of me swimming in this tail today. It was my first time in a tail like this and...whoah. I discovered muscles I didn't know I had. Seriously, I'm very athletic, I practice yoga, pilates, weight lift 5 days a week, as well as mermaid in my other tails like every other day....so for me to feel muscle strain is rare. I'm going to have to practice swimming in this tail more often. :)

What an awsome video! :jawdrop: I own my merbellas tail for 2 months now and I still can't do a backflip! U just do this like it's nothing! ;)

2 months? Try swimming in tails for like, 5 years... haha I can ONLY do backflips in really deep water with a very small fluke! and still I end up going sideways

Awe thanks Ariel. Here's me swimming in it as of last week. I was finally able to swim backwards underwater for the first time and my flips are getting better. :) http://youtu.be/iZDVvKQp5cM Definitely it takes time to get used to swimming in a silicone tail. I don't even want to wear my other ones lol.

Gorgeous tail! I agree with Blondie, I don't think monofin lines are noticable unless you're looking for them lol. I didn't notice until Arion mentioned it.

Just a question, you had asked the mertailor about what tail would fit you best and go with your dark hair.... then you go very, very blonde? I'm confused about this. It looks kind of odd to me seeing almost-white hair with your dark tail.

Could be a wig?

SeaSister

Yeah actually now that I look more closely it does seem to be a wig. I'd like to see a video with her swimming with her natural hair lol.

I just saw some of these comments. Yes, I like to wear wigs. I asked Eric for a tail that would go with my dark hair and my platinum blonde hair looks. I have long brown hair naturally. Wigs are not only fun but mine serve several functions. 1. They keep me warm in cold ocean water and 2. My real hair is soaked in conditioner inside the cap so I don't get as much damage as I swim in chlorinated water daily and get a lot of sun when I'm out on a shoot. 3. When I'm in and out of the water, going from party to party, blow-drying and styling my hair is not an option, so my wigs allow me to show up at gigs looking fresh and polished. :) They do require training to get used to may I add.

Oh my gosh! I freaking LOVE wigs! How in Neptune's Ocean do you keep it on while swimming, though? I have a wig I would LOVE to wear in the water.

That is a FANTASTIC idea, Bonnie! How do you keep them attached? Just lots and lots of bobby pins? Also, where do you get your wigs? I am assuming they are synthetic? Do you go high or low quality for a wig you plan to swim in?
