So I'm cruising down St.George Street in historic St.Augustine, Florida. The streets are crowded and full of people because of the major music festival going on tonight. As I'm walking, my friend bends over and picks up something. He hands it to me and I look at the card...

I was in complete shock for a moment to stumble a upon a local mer! I quickly thought over some mers in the area but none of them have the name Trina. I sadly have not heard of her. I was wondering if any of you might know who she is? It looks like she's sporting a nifty Mertailor tail. I would love to maybe even meet her someday. Regardless, I thought it was absolutely amazing to stumble upon a mermaid's business card in the middle of a crowded street!

Yup, I've seen her around since she got her tail right before MerPalooza last year. She does indeed cater to the aquaphiles, and she's not shy about it. If I remember right she did a news article about her being an aquaphile and it featured her in her new tail in a small tank, and she tags most of her stuff with #imanaquaphile last I saw (she has a site with a paid members only area as well). It's a huge market, really, can't blame her for going for it! I've commented on her mermaid stuff on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram before and she's never replied so I don't know what she's like. She has the cutest pet possum though ^_^

I say good for her :thumbs-up: As far as I know, she keeps all her more fetishy stuff on her members only site and doesn't push it on anyone, like some people can do. Which a lot of us have experienced at some point (see this thread (http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?3787-Dealing-with-quot-fetish-quot-comments) for more on that). I think it's awesome she's open and proud of that side of her personality. I think all of us as mers can identify with people reacting against non mainstream things that to them are "strange" or even to them or even "wrong" - which some people do think and have said about mermaiding - and struggling with showing or hiding that side of ourselves. She hit two birds with one stone! If I met her I'd give her a :highfive:

It's just different tastes is all :) Nothing to be ashamed about IMO. And this coming from a pretty darn vanilla chick, haha :P

Like I said she keeps pretty much any fetish related stuff on that one site of hers as far as I know. A lot of her youtube videos can be taken as "for aquaphiles" but they're just normal looking videos unless you are an aquaphile I guess. She's not really a "fetish mermaid" as she is a mermaid that does fetish stuff in tail sometimes. At least that's my opinion. They're two different interests that she combines sometimes, but the two combined doesn't define her. Hope I'm making some kind of sense!

I'm not sure how many members they have, but it's mostly smaller children I think.

The Magictail-Gathering was so large because they were trying (and succeeded) to break the Guinness Record.
Fact is people from all over Europe came together for that one.

I've not met any of the local club members in the pools around here sadly,
but given the animosity I feel from all sides even when swimming with no tail, it wouldn't surprise me to hear they just don't dare to tailswim.

I also find that a huge percentage of divers are German...they actually make up a huge percentage of dive tourism in Thailand... plus you have like seastar discovery competition etc ... its usually Indian or Chinese people that struggle most with water activities to be honest

My impresion is that mermaiding is bigger in the south & west of Germany than in the east & north. BTW, they got 148 mermaids & merboys and over 1,000 spectators to show up for the record attempt in Freiburg ( http://www.badische-zeitung.de/freiburg/148-nixen-und-1100-besucher-im-freiburger-westbad--70311762.html ) I think that's pretty good :clap:.

Also, I have this idea that there's a mermaid club in Stuttgart? Not sure, but I seem to remember there being one.
