I am a new mermaid and I want a bit of advice. I have decided to make a neoprene tail with a latex finish but I want to know if you can color it with spray paint and if so what kind? do I even need to use latex when using spray paint? could I apply it straight on? if so what would be the effect? what would be cheaper as well? should I just use a latex tint? can I order it pre-tinted?

Best course of action here would to be color your neoprene with spray paint first. Once the color is set on the fabric, then apply the latex on top making sure it's clear latex. Then it'll never chip the paint off ^^

This is assuming your latex is transparent, which mine isn't, even when thin. I used the RD407 mask making latex from monster makers that most of us use. Are you perhaps thinking silicone, not latex?

There is transparent latex, by the way, though I don't remember anything about it.
Edit- Derp, I apparently missed that bit that Blondie said. :P There is a thread in here somewhere that mentions transparent latex, though I don't remember it being something we dwelled on for very long.

I was thinking more along the lines of using like acrylic paints over the latex which I heard works well but also spray paint. I guess that was my main thing. would either give it like a dull non gloss effect? Monster Makers! I was also having a hard time figuring out where to buy my latex haha that answers my other question too! WHOOP!:D
