Thought I would start a thread where I could share pics of new non-mer related costumes & gowns I make all in one place! You can check out my Deviantart or Etsy (links in signature) for even more past works. Before you ask yes, I make things for others (& would love to trade for mer stuff *cough* RAVEN*cough*)! ;)

This is my latest ensemble for a burlesque colleague of mine. Duster with over 45 feet of hand sewn on ostrich feather hem, corset, removable overskirt, hair fascinator, triangle top and g string all made and embellished by me!

Most of it I buy in person at various little fabric warehouses in Dallas but if you PM me what you are looking for I'll let you know if I have an online contact for it; the stores in the district don't do online sales. :p

Blunt question, do you make your own patterns? Cause when I make my own patterns it's always to short, even when I followed my instruction books from the sewing lessons I followed.

I both make my own patterns as well as use commercial ones, sometimes a combination of both in one project. :) It really depends on what I'm making but if it's really important I always make a mock up first with cheap fabric to make sure the pattern I use/made will work correctly.

Add even more length if the mockup is too short; if it happens all the time hopefully you can more easily figure out what you need to do to get the correct length. :)

Oh my goodness, those are just gorgeous!!! :clap: I especially love the Ever after gown, all the ren/SCA clothing, and Moulin Rouge! Simply gorgeous! I'm over here drooling over all the pretty :drool:

You and a few others on here have inspired me to pick up my costuming in a serious way again... In high school (and just after), I was very serious about costuming - I really wanted to do costumes for Broadway, movies, whatever! But I was also into singing and acting, and figured I'd go to school for all of it at once... But then I turned 18 and my face went crazy, so I stopped being as serious about it.

But, I can't just sit here and look at you guys and your awesome outfits any more! I'm sucking it up, making peace with my sewing machine, and tackling a Halloween project this year! I even started my very first blog, because I guess I feel motivated if I think people are watching. And it's a good portfolio. :p

The fabric is ridiculously awesome; is a sheer net that has satin cutout applique on it which is then edges in teeny pink sequins on all the swirls. Then I trimmed the hem and cuffs in hand dyed ostrich feathers.

Yep, I made a replica of Danielle's 'Just Breathe' gown from Ever After a few times for myself; once a direct copy and once an 'inspired by' in red & black. I didn't do the big wings due to the events I was going to; opted for a more natural looking feathered angel wings. :)

Glad you like my Jessica too; it's one of my most popular costumes!
